Yeah...it's like landing on Boardwalk with a hotel. Euro cars...ugh.
Omg. I’m dead. Best analogy ever.

Honestly not that bad. B8 SQ5 (2014) that turned over 90K a couple weeks ago.

I recently had a low miles turbo SQ5 engine that was eating itself. Sparkling oil and major lifter noise. Told the owner to trade it in immediately![]()

Common. Broken valve springs, bearings, cylinder liners, I’ve seen a variety of glitter parties in the oil. This is why that 3.0T engine is crap.
I don't want to know about the S8. Let me count the dice roll spaces in my head...
Ok BARF, school me:
looking to consolidate vehicles for the wife down to one do it all mom hauler.
Priorities in order:
- AWD (live in Tahoe)
- mid size SUV sizing (2 kids +dog& gear) no minivan
- decent (25+?) MPG (hybrid? No full electric)
- quiet comfortable cabin, great seats (heated of course)
- better than average reliability
Looking at Lexus rx450h...
We have a lexus gx470 now and I love it but she wants better mpg and a bit smaller. for reference new Highlanders feel cheap to me.
Yes, the gx is paid for, and the $ delta to get a new car pays for a LOT of gas, but it's not about the $, it's eco guilt I guess.
The Subaru Ascent hasn't come up at all in the discussion from what I can see. Does anyone have any experience with this? I've had several Subaru's and they have alway been great in the snow and reliable. Gas mileage not so good. Looks like the Ascent is nothing to write home about in this department.
Never had a single problem with any Ford I've owned. It's largely all bullshit wives tales and/or people doing it to themselves due to negligence and/or abuse.
