How about September 20, Saturday ?
Time: 7:30am meet up, 8:30am on the water.
Give me a head count.

Crap.. there's a TT in Lodi.. and then races are canceled for two weeks. Can we schedule it for the weekend after?

Let me run it by the other half.

Never been there, is there a place to rent every or do I just into town and get what i need? I need a wet suit and diving gear. Actually thinking about just buying a wetsuit to have it. So I'd need the gear.

Yeah, there's bamboo reef, their open at like 6am.. I bought my own gear and rent suits. Not scared of a little pee.. :laughing

I can't stand using random BC's and regulators. I can stand a wonky suit.

Man I cant do anytime this month. I am busy every weekend. I will get one boat dive in though at least. if you guys can hold off until next month or do another dive I am in!

I came this close >< to buying gear but I dont dive enough to justify spending 2k. Wet suit i can do and wont mind if it sits in the closet for months at a time.

I dont mind pee pee either warms you up a bit anyways :laughing

Pretty sure i went there to fill my tanks up. Suppose I can go there. thanks!

Then let's scratch that Sep 20.
Kim, you can go to Diver Dan or Anywater sport for wetsuit rental.

Oct 4th look good, but it's a bit too far for me to commit. Everyone please post your available weekend. Is Oct 4th look good for everyone at the moment ?

I agree with boat diving, it's fun not to haul all gears up/down. But I don't think it's worth $85 if the boat anchor where I can swim out with 15 mins.

2k!? New maybe? $800-900 is what you'll probably pay for used stuff.

oh haha. i wasnt buying used. I was about to buy brand new. But either way I dont dive enough to buy gear and Im ok with renting.

So looking at our calendar, which is quickly filling up....

Next weekend is Hawthorne
Sept 20th does not work as Ben has a track day.
Oct 4th- preferably not as we have a Tom Petty Concert on the 5th.
Oct 11th - another track day

Possible dates for us are:

Sept 27th
Oct 25th and then November is pretty open but i know thats far out.

if you guys can do earlier go for it, we can try and set up another trip in a month or so. :thumbup

Any word on a dive date yet? I just did a Halibut dive last weekend out in moss landing.

Where are the halibut pics ? :laughing
I got some abalones last weekend too.

I think Oct would be good.

I didn't get any. One guy on the boat got one. All I got was a rock fish! I have never got a Halibut yet.

Got some good footage of a seal messing with me though. I will post that later tonight.

It's been 18 months since my last dive, but today I had the opportunity to dive with over a dozen turtles in Kauai. Such an awesome experience being in the water with these magnificent creatures...

(Sidenote: I need to work on my air consumption, I try my best to breathe slowly and calmly, but I'm always the first to run out of air. Guess that's what 19 years of smoking will do to ya... :()

I can go over an hour and change on an a low pressure alum 80cf and come up with ~800#'s. Just float, don't swim. Clasp your hands together. If you have to move to stay buoyant you'll burn a lot of air. Neutral buoyancy is pretty important.

But what the hell do I know? I thought lapped riders got their own checkered flag. :laughing

Finally had a chance to edit the video of my dive:

Good vid.

RE: Air Consumption

Firstly, don't worry. Worrying leads to stress, stress leads to faster heartbeat, thus requiring more oxygen. After you relax, take an extra minute or two to dial in your buoyancy as it'll save you several minutes of air consumption afterwards. Last thing to remember is: Dive horizontal, and not vertical. Try to keep your body as horizontal as possible, as it'll increase your kicking efficiency and decrease the energy it takes to do so.

The rest.. will come with time. So again.. Don't worry ;)

That's a great video. I wish we had turtles around here! I would love to dive with them.

Went out Monterey yesterday with a friend, and I speared this.
Viz 15ft, very calm water, 55 water temp.
