It's been 18 months since my last dive, but today I had the opportunity to dive with over a dozen turtles in Kauai. Such an awesome experience being in the water with these magnificent creatures...
(Sidenote: I need to work on my air consumption, I try my best to breathe slowly and calmly, but I'm always the first to run out of air. Guess that's what 19 years of smoking will do to ya...)

I'll be back in the Philippines in a week. I'm looking to get certified while I'm there. Had a blast with scuba last time I was there.

I would suggest getting your certification here. There are lots of reputable diving schools here with a much more extensive program and you'll receive better instruction. That way, you can dive out there and enjoy the experience instead of having to focus on getting your certification.
You planning on going to Palawan again? The diving is awesome out there!
I was on a kayak along Otter Cove area.
Assuming you mean 3/28, no can do. But wouldn't mind some local knowledge to shore diving and spear/abalone fishing in Monterey if you go regularly. Just did my first dives out here down by Laguna Beach. Tore the seals out of my drysuit and had to dive 7mm wet but other than that it was fun.

I would not recommended it if it's your first dive, this is exclusively spearfishing so we are on our own way even we start at the same launch.
If you have all the equipment and know how, I can give you the local knowledge. Let me know if you want to join us.
