Wanted a cheaper alternative to the Avon Distanzia and came across these.

The 705 tread pattern is more dirt oriented but read some reviews online and seems they work well on the road too.
The only size for the front was a 120/90 17 which is quite a bit taller than the 120/70 but figured I'd try it out,put them on the bike and while the front is taller so is the rear 150/70 compared to the distanzia due to the deep blocky tread pattern. The drz sits level and on my very short little ride today the steering is heavier I don't think it'll be enough to bug me but a longer ride (off all next week)will tell the story.
These will definitily be better in the dirt just curious to see how they stick on the pavement.

Bike looks like a big TW 200!:teeth

For the price they're worth a try.

Always liked those tires, never had a need to try them, cant ride on the side of those monsters.

They work well.the rear will whear out fast. One is tube less one is tube so you half too run low pres. Your front is on backwards. It's a rear.

Figured it was a rear being a 120/90,will run low pressure.
If I don't like the front at least it was cheap and will put a Distanzia on it.:thumbup

Gonna hit Coast Ridge rd off of Nacimiento Fergusson this coming week along with some goaty road riding, guess we'll see.

Sweet helmet!

I have these on my KLR, and they're holding up great. I think they handle the street riding quite well. I doubt that I ride as aggressively as you do though.
I'll be curious to see how you like them.

The only resevation I have is with the front. It's the same width as the distanzia but a flatter profile(it's actually a rear tire) so edge grip might be compromised.

Well, I really like the Shinko's.:thumbup
The best part is they are better on pavement than I thought, kept the same pace I would have on Distanzias on Nacimiento Fergusson(both sides). The steering is heavier with the 120/90 in the front but it is also more stable and I got used it pretty fast.
Went down CA 1 to Old Coast Highway(by Bixby Bridge)then down to Nacimiento Fergusson.Followed that wonderful piece of goatness to the top of the ridge and turned off on Coast ridge road.
Only did about 11 miles of that because when I got closer to the coast on the south side it got very cold and my hands were aching!Turned around(was gonna turn around at CA1 and retrace anyway) and retraced my tracks and generally had a blast all the way back to Nacimiento Fergusson.

Decided to turn right instead of going back down to the freezing coast and head back through Fort Hunter Leggit.Almost ran over 2 coyotes on the Fort and only saw 1 other car the whole way.
Back to 101 to Greenfield then over to Carmel Valley rd-over Las Laurelas Grade home to Salinas.:thumbup

Took a few picks, have posted pics of Coast Ridge rd before, hope nobody gets bored.
1st is at the start of Nacimiento Fergusson

Lots of people on the Stromtroopers forum seem to like the Shinkos too. However the common recommendation is to pay more for the radial version over the cheaper bias-ply. :2cents

Looks like you broke them in properly...

Nice report.

These tires are quite a bit taller, gonna have to lower my gearing, either go 2 up in back or put the 14 tooth back on the front.Running15-40 now.

Found 1 more pic.Always wonder when I see an abandoned vehicle in the boonies how it got there and why it was left.

I've always thought the Shinko E705 tread pattern/depth looked good for a 60/40 street/dirt tire.

And the E705's are priced way less than Anakees, Distanzias, Tourances, etc.
