Shinko 705's

I've always thought the Shinko E705 tread pattern/depth looked good for a 60/40 street/dirt tire.

And the E705's are priced way less than Anakees, Distanzias, Tourances, etc.

What surprised me was how well they stick on the pavement. It will take more miles to be as confident in them as I was in the Distanzias but from that 1 ride very happy.
Gonna put more miles on them tomorrow, either a short ride out to Carmel Valley up Tassajara rd out to the monestary(28 miles round trip on fireroads) or if I get up early and it's not raining too hard maybe a ride through Clear Creek,we'll see.:thumbup

I've been running the 244s on my XR250L, and I'm actually pretty damned surprised how well they've been sticking. Have been considering trying the 705s as a slightly more street oriented tire.

What sort of tire pressure are you running, and how hard have you been pushing? I'm curious as to how they feel toward the edge of traction.

Running 28 psi,I pushed fairly hard(got the tires to the edges)but it was the first ride on them so I was "reserved".

I wish there was a shorter version that might fit under the fender of the GSXR front end on my SV :rofl I'm currently running an old 150 Road Attack on the rear and it works surprisingly well, but something that could do a little dirt could sure be fun

What's wrong with road tires on some dirt? :toothless

Nice report Ratpick, if the front steers a little slower with those tires some might suggest pulling the fork tubes up in the triples to quicken the steering some.

I thought about that, might try it. :thumbup

Hey - How do these fare in wet conditions? And, did you lower the forks and try. Also, are you running a bigger tube in the front then?

Haven't tried them in the rain yet,and no,I didn't lower the tubes yet(no time, maybe this weekend). Not sure about the tube, had it installed at a local shop(DC10,Doug Chandlers place if anyone in the area wants a good shop)I didn't ask Doug about the tube, assumed he used the same size.
