Sierra Passes?

I'm not familiar with that road, however, any 2 lane, undivided roadway is a max speed of 55.

That road is interesting because although it is wide enough to be a 2-lane roadway, a significant portion of it does not have a dividing line (I suppose it's so desolate that they didn't bother with lane lines), so technically it is a one-lane roadway. Would the speed limit still be 55mph in those portions?

Last week the weather was perfect and the roads were in great shape. Some minor road work going on heading up 120 out of Yosemite otherwise stellar.

Thanks Lou,

Figured this one might reach the passes. Heading up Monday and the weather looks good. :thumbup :ride

Hope to see your ride report. :thumb up, No matter what the weather report is..
It Ain't carved in stone...What you find, at the place and time..can differ.

That's also what makes it exciting, and special..:cool

^^^ Yikes, that jives with what I heard this morning, at breakfast, asking everyone that came in, that are High country people...One said, that he had heard (but didn't know first hand), that there was snow, and 70-to-80mph winds the day before.

Doesn't sound good, and it is cold down here.

Interesting that Tioga didn't close, as it's higher. Maybe the storm didn't go quite that far south.

Went out 108 Saturday and came back 120 today after a night at the hot springs, rain and flurries up high yesterday but today was perfect coming over tioga.

It's beautiful up there right now.

Any lodging recommendations on the east side? I'd be looking for just a bed, food and of course a hot spring very close by.

We camped so can't help you there, there are several motels/hotels etc in Bridgeport though.

Camping is the way to go since you can camp right at the springs. Free, undeveloped sites right on the river.

In Markleeville, there is the Cut throat trout Hotel & Restaurant & bar,

And across the street a deli. And a short drive to a Hot springs that is state run, I believe...Pools are like swimming pools, and a shower room (s) along side.

You should check to see if they are open for business...Could close for the winter.

Aren't there a few exceptions out in the desert that're 65 on 2 lanes in CA?

It's still 2 lanes, they just aren't marked.
