I would imagine if you lost Lydia, you could hire somebody else, and that would return Lydia to Dragonreach or wherever. Then re-hire Lydia. I wonder if you would loose any loot she was carrying for you.

This has always been a shortcoming of the sink. I think there must be a good reason why it's designated unsearchable, maybe the volume of content?

It's just been something to work around for a while, but if you look only once a week or every few weeks you have to jump thru other hoops to find stuff and avoid the dread "repost" lynch mob who hover their fingers over the keyboard just waiting to type "R" :laughing
 
Getting my ass handed to me big time in Pinemoon cave. Stupid Enthir wants his staff back, and apparently the game randomly selects a dungeon for it to be in. In this case, it's a cave full of some powerful ass vampires. I can't even get past the first 2 rooms. First room had a couple wolves, no problem, I 1-shotted them. 2nd room has 3 vampires, a random Nord, and a Master vampire. 2 of the vampires 1 shot my companion and summoned atronachs, and then bend me over. WTF.

Lay a rune, bait them, and leave through the front door. They should follow you outside. It sounds like you're a mage; it is easier for mages to fight in the open.

Runes didn't do shit. I've been trying that. I'm wearing a full set of enchanted glass armor, using mace of molag bal, storm atronach, and the 2h fist fighting chick from whiterun. Gave her an enchanted ebony 2h axe and a full set of ebony armor, rings and necklace enchanted to boost 2h damage by 80%, and she gets killed in like 2 seconds. 2 of the vampires are casters and cast lightning and frost spells that drain my magic and slow me down. Even with the "highborn" regen they burn my magic off too quickly. My gear is enchanted for 90% cost reduction for destruction spells and it's not enough. Getting the dudes to go toe-to-toe with me is the only way i'm getting any of them and even then i have to pause and drink a health pot pretty much every swing.
 
Ah, you need element resist gear and/or resist potions and/or ironflesh and/or the Block perk that lets shields block 50% of elemental damage.

There's also a 3-set of Alteration perks that reduce incoming magic damage. The first step is 10%, I don't know what the others are. You may also benefit from temporarily switching to the Atronach stone.

Ebony shield enchanted for +20% magic resistance is all I have at the moment. Other problem is this motherfucking master vampire never runs out of magicka, and resurrects everyone I kill to fight for him too. His resurrected wolf took 8 hits from my mace and didn't die while the normal, non-zombie wolf only took 1 hit to kill.

edit - master vampire also appears to have some sort of insta-kill move with his blade. I was at full health and it went to a little cut-scene like when I get in a critical hit or something except he's the one who got the kill. Fuck this, I'm gonna go see a movie. Be back later.

Resurrect them first, or get the Banish perk.

pop quiz, BARF.

The ruins of Ustengath (sp?) in the marshes to the north east of Mothral.

I'm here to collect Jurgen Windacller's Staff.

I've already gone all the way down and killed the lich king whatever and gotten the word of power.

I'm still trying to find the staff, though. There is this part 1 level up from the bottom where there are three stones in a triangle. they have carvings of dragons on them. when you walk up to them they glow red and a nearby gate opens up.

how the bleep do i get through the gate before it closes? i've tried dropping a corpse in there but it still turns off when i walk out of it's radius....
 
answer my own question. after putzing around i remembered i have alternate shouts. :teeth

nothing to see here.....

Hmmm....I think so. I'm playing on PS3 but I know I've transferred save files to my thumb drive and onto other PS3s before so I see no reason I couldn't upload it for you to download and copy over.
 
BEAT IT! Fucker...I used like 6 health pots (ones that do +150 hp). He uses a siphon health spell when he goes hand to hand with you. Also, saving/quitting/reloading after killing a couple of the other ones helped, cause it turns their bodies into ash piles. Loot's all still there, but their bodies can't be rezzed to fight you. (To clarify - I didn't save/quit/reload on purpose for that, this was from me quitting earlier). And lastly...I used WABBAJACK! Hahahaha. Hit him with it 3 or 4 times till it turned him into a rabbit, killed off everyone else, then just beat him down in the tunnel. Me on one side, 2h companion whaling on him from the other side. No escape for spellcasting.

edit - @ Silverstorm - just go to Pinemoon Cave. It's in the north west of the map, west of Solitude.

Sonnova bitch...even though I paid that bounty hunter dude 1200g I still have a 1000 KOS bounty in Markarth. I get stuck in a dialog loop where I can't make them look the other way (bounty too high) can't pursuade them it wasn't me (You aren't fooling anyone, we have several witnesses, etc), and can't submit cause I've already escaped. If I try to submit, the dialogue loops to me asking "what's wrong?" and it loops back around to the same shit. Only option I can choose to end dialogue is "I'd rather die!"
 
On a separate note, if any of you guys really like archery you need to go check out Wolfskull cave. I just sniped at least a dozen different enemies and went up multiple levels in sneak and archery in here. Target rich environment and it's some long shots too. I have 0 talent points put into archery so I don't have the zoom or time slow which makes things a little more difficult for me. Fun to lead my targets and get a hit when I can barely see them though.
 
I just started a quest line in solitude where i'm in some alternate dimension. And my weapon is a wabbajack....
