So which one really is called 4-Corners?

Lately, we've been referring to 35 & 9 as the "4 - way", since 35 & 84 (Alice's) has always officially been "4 - corners"...

Or just "the top of 9"...

im with yana on this one...i've always refered to 35/84 as 4corners because of the restuarant up there called 4corners.

Why don't you guys just call them 35/84 (or 84/35?) and 35/9 (or 9/35?)--that way, there is no confusion at all...;)

Yeah, but it's amazing how many people don't know what "35" is until I add "Skyline".

Anyway, I've always understood it as:
9&35 = 4 Corners
84&35 = Alice's
The "Hot Dog Stand" does strike me as pretty funny though. :)
...Of course, I go up 9/35 and back everyday so, I've given alot of the corners names too. :)

Four corners-you know, the parking lot with the hot dog stand.
BTW, how to get to the hot dog stand from SF???

I've always called 9/35 "Four Corners" but I wouldn't mind calling it the Hot Dog Stand....but the hot dog guy isn't always there.....Melissa, there's a good way to the stand from SF - I'll tell ya in person on Thursday. ;)

This is kinda funny cause I always thought of 35/84 as Four Corners from back in the 70's. 9/35 was just where everyone turned right. I'm not even sure that parking lot existed back then.
Things change....

I've been riding skyline for thirteen years and four corners has always been the parking lot at the skywood trading post. Hwy. 9 is just the parking lot at the top of 9.

I call 9/35 either "the top of 9" or "4 corners", 35/84 is Alices. If you think about it 35/84 has 5 intersections, so "4-corners" really doesnt fit.

. . .and gentlemen you have your answer. :teeth Thanks Yana :cool

Can we get some of the local old skool riders (Gary J, Doc Wong, and others) to chime in here??

One of the problems here is Doc got it backwards and helped spread the incorrect location. We teased him about this about
three years ago after one of his clinics. :teeth

9/35 - Saratoga Gap
84/35 - Four Corners

This is the "Four Corners" in the East Bay, at the intersection of Skyline and Fish Ranch Road (what a name!)

9 & 35 is 4 corners
84 & 35 is Alices, although technically we meet across from Alices with flatter pavement.
35 & 92 is Vista point

Hwy 9 towards Saratoga is "front side"
Hwy 9 toward Boulder Creek is the "back side"

Cheers

years back when I started riding up there we met at alices or four corners, one in the same. no one stopped at 35/9 or met there. seems like newer riders or southbay types tended to start calling 35/9 four corners. just what I 've noticed over the years.

Yup. Only tourists and mountainbikers could be spotted at 9/35, with the occasional Hobo or Gin Bum thrown in for comic relief.

The HotDog Guy changed all of that.

5-corners?????

Somebody wrote in an earlier post "technically there's five corners at the intersection of 84 and 35, so it should be called "five Corners." (actually, that was coined a bit)

Where do you come up with five???

If you're talking about that little island in front of Alices, then why don't we also include the island at 35 northbound, where you turn right to go down 84 to Woodside and call it Six Corners????

It makes about as much sense:x

I'm a local resident (I live 1/2 mile south of Alice's). 84 and Skyline (35) has been called "4 Corners" for as long as I can remember... even when I lived down in San Carlos. All of the locals call it that and it's always been called that in our little South Skyline Association quarterly publishing. It seems that kblade has hit it on the head with the Southbay people naming the 35/9 junction "4 Corners" as well. Everyone that lives up here calls 35/9, "35 'n 9".

However, since I've been a member of BARF, I always have read people referring to 35/9 as "4 Corners". I used to get so confused but I've learned to refer to 84/35 as Alice's when I'm on the forums.

DAMN ALL YOU SOUTHBAY BASTARDS! :teeth

I had a conversation with Gary Jaehne about this. He said that the Hwy 9/Hwy 35 intersection has been called "Four Corners" for as long as he has been riding on the mountain. I've always known the Hwy 9/Hwy 35 intersection as "Four Corners" or the "Hot Dog Stand". Of course, I've only been riding since 1998...

So to save myself any further confusion, I'll call them, 35&9 and 35&84!!
