Thats one fine looking bike!!It looks like a GP bike. What do those or what did they run ($) when they raced Moto GP? 50-100K?

Race Bikes Don't Have Mirrors

This is a street bike:

It looks great when Megan Fox rides it around--on the STREET. :D

But hey she can make dirt look good (from the same movie)...:wtf

The one I was looking at is a 2009 Rs125 with the SPAINS NUMBER 1 fairings, dry weight 280. It says not street legal which it isnt in the usa. But if this is the one you guys are saying is too bulky for mini track then let me know. its not the rsw for sure.:(

yes, that is the more street designed type of RS125, the newer type. not good for the track; way too heavy.

Yes the Aprilia RS125 is a street bike--it has been raced as a Sports Production, however it makes for a horrible track bike experience on the tracks we have around here. It has less power than a proper track bike of its displacement, and weights 100 lbs more than a track bike of its displacement. Some folks that don't know their ass from a black hole tried to call it a track bike because the laws in some parts of the US have band two stokes of larger that 49cc on the street. The Aprilia RS125 is a great bike, much like the Cagiva Mito I have--they are just not track bikes, and no matter how much lipstick you put on them they will still be heavy street bikes (compared to race bikes like the Aprilia RSW/RSA, Honda RS125, Yammie TZ125, etc).

Yeah you can buy that very bike right now for $50K AUS. :p It's sweet too as it has the same custom frame designer that won Moto3 this year.

If you are on a tight budget and want something viable for the kart tracks lots of folks have taken mini GP replica bikes like the Derbi GPR and the Aprilia RS50 and modded them for track action. They are much lighter (by nearly 100lbs) than the Aprilia RS125/Cagiva Mito, cost a lot less, are much easier to find, and frequently can be found track ready. Even hopped up though they really wont compete with something like the Honda RS125--which like the RSW/RSW is a true race bike.

The nice thing about the Honda, or a similar vintage Yammie is that because they are much older bikes you can get them for 1/10 the price of the newer Aprilia race bikes--although if you looked around you might be able to find an older Aprilia for under $10k.

There are also trainer racers like the various Metrakit bikes. There's one in LA for $5K right now. It kind of sits in the middle of a GP race bike and a GP replica.

Yeah, I rushed on this one. I know its uber fun, but when I started reading about belly pans and safety wiring... I knew It won't happen any time soon for me :(

Glad you all had fun,

peace out :thumbup

Im hitting the track tomorrow suppose to be 60 degrees so grip should be pretty good. Anyone else going to be there?

^^^^
that whole fuckin' "work" thing...... :cry

come summer time, u better bet your sweet asses i'll be out there EVERY trackday!!! :loco

Well the grip was great but I was the only bike out there. And I have to say you get pretty rusty if your not going weekly. So needless to say it wasnt a whole lot of fun and by the end of the day I blew my gear box up- I think . I going to disassemble it monday to determine the damage. Luclily I have a spare motor so its all about figuring out how to swap the gears from one motor to the next because who ever did the original swap they had the starter welded off so it would fit in the frame. How's the NSR coming along?

jealous...... grrrrrrrrrr
yeah its more fun with added bikes on the track. i dunno what peeps are blabbing about when they say the track is croweded, unless you are going for your best lap time ever - traffic just makes it more challenging

good to hear that 60 degrees still = good grip... even if it doesnt = comfy riding :laughing

...should i post pics of my newly acquired RS91 ....... (?) naw.... i dont think u guys could handle it...... :teeth

naw... you guys really dont wanna see it.... especially Dani and Mike and Rob.... i mean... i wouldnt want them to see my sexy pressurized airbox, inverted forks, radial mounted caliper .... i mean.... that'd just be cruel for me to post pics - really, now, have a heart.... oh jesus, and we SURE dont wanna talk about the motor, oh no, not even on the table for conversation, Rob will confirm that for you... and wow, like especially - most especially... we cant ever mention how much $ i have in the thing - i mean dude - lets be real - i'll just keep the pics to myself i think... :devil

Blown gearbox? Oh man! Good you have a spare motor!

My NSR project is coming along nicely. Motor has been mounted. I've got a custom pipe ready, got a CDI on Ebay ready. So I can finally fire it up. I'm still waiting a few more things. Can't wait to take it out for a spin at Sears Point!

Well Charlie lets see it. And why the 92cc Now I have do a 92cc

OK OK If you guys are gonna twist my arm like that... damn start calling me names and saying stuff about my mom - jeeeez if it means that much to you i GUESS i'll post some pics.... :teeth

the bike. '04 RS125 chassis

the motor. mounts have been welded onto each of the bottom case halfs. so it bolts RIGHT IN to the RS125 frame. the sprocket is in exactly the same place - not moved forward as is often necessary if you fabricate external mounts or an engine cradle. having the motor connect directly with the frame also will lessen vibration, big plus. i got it with all the stuff to run it, cdi, harness, throttle cable, clutch cable - all plug and play - a dream

how the motor mounts in the frame

still gotta do some fiberglass work on the airbox, but its close... i'm pretty confident i can get it sealed so it can be pressurized, but its not like i'll be going fast enough to make it work! i'm gonna do my best on it, and if it seals perfect awesome, if not, at least it serves as an airbox, so i can get some still air for the carb to breathe

the bike as it sits now... awaiting an exhaust

:thumbupsweeettt. R u fabbing the exhaust, or having it built ? i had a guy out of oregon build my exhaust. It was a kart shop that built cr80/85 shifter karts and built exhausts for them. Came out to be a sweet set up when it was all said and done.

BTW Nice fabwork ! did u do all that yourself ?

i wish i had the welding skills and tools required to mod the cases like that - but i dont :(
i can MIG pretty well, but TIG and aluminum welding it outta my reach. I bought the motor as you see it in the pics.

i'll be doing some light fiberglass fabwork on the bottom of that airbox, and i've done a few little tweeks to the bike such as mount the tank a bit better than it previously was, etc... nothing too major those. these RS's are built really well, and simply, put in the motor and GO! :loco

yeah the exhaust i'm for sure not going to try and do. ToraTora recommended a guy, i called and left him a message, hopefully he will get back to me soon so i can get that ball rolling... by the time the exhaust is done, everything else will be done - so this bike i expect to be trackside by early this season :ride

Wow that bike is clean! Makes mine look like a pos. Where did you get that motor?
