Sony

I didn't think it was possible to make Microsoft look good, but Sony has done just that.

Everyone knows about the breach of the Sony PS3 network. While not a good thing, I took it with a grain of salt and rolled with it. I don't use my PS3 that much, mainly for DVD and Netflix.

However, now a month later not only is my PS3 not working, but I cannot watch Netflix.

Over the past month I could still watch Netflix even though the PS3 was down. However, a few days ago Sony said to update the software, which I did. Once I updated it Sony made me update my password, Ok, no problem.

I go to reset my password and it keeps giving a message that the dam network is down. I mean why to you make someone update the software if you cannot complete the task. I have been getting this message for two days now. Moreover, now I cannot log onto Netflix or the Sony network, the PS3 has just become a game only console.

I have a Xbox 360 and had the red ring of death a few times. Every time MS stepped up and took care of the problem quickly and with no hassle for me.

Sony has really dropped the ball.

I really amazes me what clucks are working for Sony, yet all we get is some CEO in Japan bowing and asking for forgiveness. F that, resign you jackass.

Rant over :mad

I got it to work, with some help from the peeps here. You have to log in using the triangle thingy in the network menu and redo your password there. It worked for me. I am now watching netflix again :)

A guy had a thread on it in here. All the info is there. Helped me out reading that. :)

here check it out

It worked for me first time. Honestly the only thing I use the PS3 Internetz for is Netflix and I swear it has been faster the entire time the PSN has been down. I got no complaints and look forward to some more old games for free. :laughing

I read the other post, but the issue I am having is it will not allow me to change my password. I try it when I get home, but I follow the instruction on changing my PW and the internet domain that allows you to change your PW is down.

yeah me too :laughing All my games are on the 360 so I just use the ps3 for movies and netflix. I hope they give us so good games, I want defender and missile command, think they have old attari games? :laughing

I got the same thing until I signed in through that triangle/square thingy. Wish I could screen shot it for you. :(

I've heard lots of folks have had trouble, and I am grateful that I seem to have escaped the trouble (other than PSN being down). Hope you got it working!

If you have an old version of PS# that runs Linux you can get an emulator for Atari games. The Free Games are Dead Nation, Infamous, and three crappy ones.

I don't have a 360 and based an all the RROD I've seen my misc. associates go through, would never buy one. Networked Games are for the PC...

No problems updating my PW. Just waiting for the PS Store to return so I can get me some Hulu Plus and cancel my cable TV service.

I'm having the same problem and I've reset the system but my password isn't recognized and it forces your to request a new password through your email account. Bu their site is down so you're stopped their. The other link says nothing about how to get around their password reset.

So, what's the deal with getting around it?

Edit - same problem as FlewByU

Oh I am pretty sure they passed Microsoft in term of being evil and showing no morals what so ever a long time ago. :laughing Anyone remember rootkits in their music CDs? :facepalm

Sony does suck, but they have Ratchet and Clank and so I'm stuck for it.

You get what you pay for.

Oh wait.:laughing
