speedo view blocked on f4i

i'm sure the rest of you f4i riders have this problem too, the stupid brake (or is it clutch, never looked into it) blocks the speedo readout on the display cluster...what do you guys do to remedy this?

i figured i could pull the cable down and secure it somehow, but will it affect the tension in the cable?
 
Remember this being a common complaint by all the moto mags,they never mentioned a solution though.
 
I put a small tie strap around it and secured it to the left side of ignition housing, lowering it down an inch or so. Turn the bars full lock each way (while the bike is not moving) and make sure it doesnt inhibit anything.
I've done this for a few friends too, come to the tuesday night meet and you can see mine and I can do it to yours too if you want.
 
It's the clutch line. Re-route the line through the hole in the upper fairing bracket. Problem solved.

and the rest of you guys telling me to buy an R6, i'd like to keep my bike not downgrade. haha

the main prob is that i cant' tell whether i'm going 80 or 90, whether i'm doing 110 or 120...a little annoying.

i'll stop by the starbucks meet and check your setup out mort. thanks!

Thank you Kevin. So you just detached the cable at the clutch lever and re-ran it through that hole by the ignition?

Fine, but does it work? And in doing so, does it maintain functionality? Call it what you will, but it is a pratical solution to the problem which is more than you've offered.

1) Have you done this on your bike?
2) Doesn't the cable stick when you're turning the bars
3) Is the clutch cable even long enough to reach under the fairings like that, through that hole, and back to the clip-on?

aka) Doesn't seem like a "practical" solution to me. My bad if you've actually done it successfully, in which case I'd like to hear about it.

1)Yes. The pic above is of my bike. My recommendations come from personal experience.
2)No. If it did, I would have kept it in the stock location and advised against it.
3)Yes. I am able to turn the handlebars lock to lock with no problem. The cable doesn't even stretch.
 
I just did that last night. I first had to take out the cable from the lever end and then I had to loosen the cable from the lower end (clutch end) to lengthen it in order to let the cable back into the lever. The right side fairing had to be removed in order to work on the clutch end of the cable.

Now, I've put wire loom over the portion of the the clutch cable that goes through that "hole". I can turn the steering lock to lock, no problem. When turning the steering right, full-lock, the cable does exhibit a very tiny bit of binding (if that's what that is called). What I mean here is that it doesn't move as freely (of course, since we are limiting its movement by having it go through a small hole) as before.

I've seen this same idea as well on the CBR board. One question from me, did you run the cable outside of the right fork tube? Or did you leave it running through between the fork tubes as stock?

My bad, to tell you the truth, I'm a dumbass. I thought you were talking about the hole in the grey fairing plastic :loser Sorry!

I guess I was lucky. All I remember doing is unhooking the cable from the clutch lever, re-routing the clutch cable, turning the bars all the way right and hooking the cable back to the lever.


One question from me, did you run the cable outside of the right fork tube? Or did you leave it running through between the fork tubes as stock?

Check the pic, the cable is running outside of the fork tubes.
