** SPOILERS!** Random Motorcycle thoughts unworthy of a new thread

There are a number of different lithium battery chemistries. However, all conventional car batteries are lead/acid up to this point, though it seems lithium ion batteries are starting to make inroads.

I wonder if the charging system has been optimized for lithium ion? They require different specifications from lead/acid batteries.

I'm thinking "liability" on LI batteries.

Is it worth running a radar detector anymore?

With all of the highway speed signs, mobile speed signs various automotive proximity detectors and such constantly setting off my Valentine One it seems to be more of an annoyance than a ticket saver.
The guys that are still running long distances at high speeds (i.e., Cannonball) still use them.

Check out this video where it gets mentioned a few times:

More of Easy Riders and Easyriders,
I picked up a copy of Easyriders, grocery shopping, kind of triggered from this thread.
Magazine is still the same format, pix & stories of runs, with a David Mann center spread.
It also contained an ad for Wyatt & Billy bikes, Pan motors, everything as they were.

If Lithium Ion batteries are so good and light, why haven’t manufacturers provided them as original equipment and designed charging systems specifically for them?
My 2020 S1000XR has a factory Lithium and a matched charging system.

I run a Escort Passport 9500iX with a radar screamer on my bike. It has saved me several tickets. You must slow when you get the first beep, full bars and you may have a ticket. I have also slowed when I never saw a LEO.

Yep. I used to run an 8500 and a Sceamer on my bike. Saved my ass more than once.

I always worried about tear offs when races start. Racers almost always take one off before the green flag.
Almost bit Marc Marques in the Aussie Race this weekend.

I’ve always wondered about the danger of a tear off on the racing line in corners.

Just looking at that pic; front tire mashed into the pavement, rider tightly wrapped in kangaroos, and the open skin between his suit and helmet bottom....the only protection from hitting the ground, motorcycle road racers are still pretty closely related to their pioneering brethren. It's a gnarly sport once you come off a bike....I constantly forget or disregard that part.
