~SRX 600 Racer "one off" opportunity

Neither can I. If you are interested in the roller, without the motor, make me an offer.

If I had all the $$ in the world, I would buy this bike and sponsor a BARF younger racer like AA or our new mini-bike kid! ..My 200lbs ass needs something alittle bigger! but ya, it would be a cool thing to do.. but i havent won the lottery yet! GLWS

Nothing wrong with the engine that's in there. I've built and raced many 4-valve Yamahas. The old XT600/SRX-6/TT600 engines can be built pretty easily to put out ~65 rear wheel HP and still be totally reliable. They just have to be built properly, and you have to keep the revs down below ~8500rpm. The last engine I built, my "b" engine is still alive somewhere. I put 3 seasons of racing on it as I recall, not even a hiccup. I'm sure Russ' builder did a good job with this one...

If you want more than 65HP to go with your 265# chassis, the electric start version of the XT600 will swap right in. That engine can put out 70-80 HP and be even more reliable that the older kick-start versions...

If that's still not enough, the 5-valve 660 Yamahas engines can be built to put out 90+ HP, but your talking many thousands to build that one...

Only advantage to a newer 450-based engine IMHO is weight. Just go on a diet, or get some skinny fkr to race your bike...;p

Good luck with the sale Russ!

Just put this beast on the street Russ!
Mill the dome on the piston to run on pump gas, get whatever title you have to, and keep it as a back-roads blaster...:)

Ditch that 2nd front disc (who needs brakes?), rotate the eccentric to lengthen the wheelbase, modify rear suspension for longer travel, upright bars, Monster style seat - that thing would be invincible in the twisties... :Port

Yeah, I should probably put that bike on the street..it would be a bloodly blast for sure. It's currently at my brother's house in Washington but I've seriously been thinking of getting it home to finish it. It is an unfinished dream.

Yeah, finish it for the street. I regret selling my FZR/SRX, and it was no where near as sano as yours...

The last, sad photo before it was parted out. I had a split second option to save it, hesitated, and it was gone...
