Tats from the tattoo braggin thread - split by Bap

posted it in a different thread but i wanna get some opinions before i really get it done:

question...before i actually get it inked on me...what do you guys perceive of swastika tattoo? *im Buddhist and wanted to get it for luck*

been thinking about it for awhile and planning on getting it on my right side chest *from my point of view, right area* and now im wondering how people will react when they see it...mind you the swastika is a peaceful symbol (and goes in the opposite direction of the Nazi one) and im an Asian guy

planning on this one and after, BEEN planning a dragon with a Ace of Spades card on my back...

just wanted to share....any opinions?

Buddhist:

Nazi:

I'd say go with the Buddha, but not the swastika. Unfortunately, most people will not know the difference and will cause a lot of unwanted attention/questions. I once worked with a girl who was Inidian, and her real name was Swastika, and other employees went to HR saying her name was offensive, thinking that Nazi's invented it. She quickly started going by another name, to avoid confrontations/questions.

here some Japanese tats just please excuse the Japanese traditional underwear we had to wear this after hot springs bath places

i have an appointment on Saturday afternoon, to finish up my chest, back , ribs, and down to ankle by tomorrow night.
the last time i got tattoo was more than 4 years ago, im kinda nervous.

It is all in how other people see things sadly it is also seen as an antisemitism symbol so you wouldnt have to be white.... I know in the Buddhist religion there are other sybols that have a similer if not the same meaning right? I am just worried people would be very likely to make snap judjments because most people would not even notice it going to other way from the nazi one. I know it is a depressing fact that people wouldnt think about it before they just assumed but that is the way it is in the world...:rant

Something that might make a cool tat would be one of the conch shell... or the golden fish pair

there are other symbols but theyre more towards the Indian version of the Buddhism. something that relates to it is either the Buddhist Endless Knot and a Lotus flower but i wanted something different...:(

IMO, i think if that is what you want, then go for it... dont let what others might say/think influence YOUR LIFE. just go into it aware of the criticism you may recieve and be able to handle it properly...

id do it on the budda though, just looks more aesthetically pleasing

:teeth thanks...and thanks everyone for their opinion...i'll draw up a design *as recommended by another BARFer*ette* and show you guys what im thinking about :teeth

Maybe you can also emphasize the buddhist cature of your swastika somehow? Maybe have your favorite line of your favorite sutra integrated into it or do it in the style of sumi-e calligraphy?

thought about putting a phrase and whatnot but seeing how i want it smaller now, it might take up too much room. as for the swastika, its mainly for the good luck reason and hopefully, when i draw it out, it looks more Asian related then Nazi related
