Tattoo Design Help!

I think that tattoo across the upper part of her back would be much cooler.. Thatch is right, lower back tattoos are played out and come off as a little trashy..

I have to agree. The lower back tattoo is done. The sleeve is next but won't be as popular since it takes guts to tatt your whole arm. The most memorable tattoo I ever saw was on a chick, it was a subtle green vine with maybe a few flowers that meandered around her neckline, starting from her breastbone over her shoulders and across her shoulderblades. Subtle but provocative. She didn't show it off deliberately as so many people do, I guess that was some of the intrigue.

yea but come on, full sleeves are a big commitment.

A benign lower back tattoo says "hot girl trying to dabble in being a bad girl" while full sleeves says "tattoo freak punk rocker that never wants to live the normal life". you gotta think about this from a social standpoint :laughing :laughing

hell doesnt the word "stigma" literally translate to tattoo?

I wasn't telling her to get full sleaves, just pointing out that even if I don't particulary care for lower back tattoos, I'm not one of those guys that doesn't like women with tattoos.

That might be what you see when you see a girl with a lower back tattoo, personaly to me I think they would be better off getting a skeeball target or something, atleast make it useful.

I have a few tattoos that are sometimes visible :laughing but other than people staring or asking "if that hurt" I really never have any problems with them. Absolutely no regrets.

How about a neat silouette of a woman's shape, almost like a Hathor image, and then the wings, and the tribal.

Or like a glass goddess in the middle of all of that.

Maybe a woman in the lotus position, and a powerful glow behind her, kinda like she's emenating (sp?) her own energy.

How about a snowflake?

How about a crystal?

See, you just need to ask..........better yet, come by!

Angel - screw the little itty-bitty design, go for LONG tribal-style 'pinions' going down your back from your shoulderblades all the way down --- longest ones end at mid-thigh.

if you're gonna be an angel, don't stop at cherubim, go for seraphim the whole way. Shoot, a couple extra 'feathers' from the shoulderblades up over the shoulders and down the arms would be trippin' as well, and/or wrapping around ribs to the front.

Right Thatch?

(no foolin' it'd be a LOT of inkwork, and painful as hell, but it'd definitely tell folks who you were.)

:eek

I think that is a great idea ... and then I can build a rocket and fly to the moon.

(Yes HellFyre I will be paying you the royalties)

Hello Inky...too bad you are so far away. Actually those are all great ideas, but I really want wings, Angel Wings!!! There is a reason why, it means something to me.

I am not looking into getting a tattoo just because. If I end up getting it ; it has to be what I really want.

Thank you for the suggestions :)

You need to think about any future tattoos you might get when you start thinking about small stuff.

Inky as resident expert what would you recommend to someone that

A) wants to get a semi large tat on the upper arm

B) has really skinny arms from being weak

C) plans to eventually start working out to gain some mass but has thus far been too lazy.

should I wait to get it or should I get it now (how much bigger can the skin get in a given area without it looking like total shite is my question I guess. I don't want the old fat guy stretched tattoo look).

What about this one? I can do a more original one, but I think you liked the original design so I just modified it a bit.

I heard that once you get one tattoo, you just want more and more. I do believe that I only want one. And again, I repeat, that is why in my eyes, it has to be perfect.

:)

Now Yes I do want it on my lower back. Honestly you guys are making me nervous now :(

Ok, that looks nice but...

It is too religious looking...and too round...

if we could keep the wings, loose the body and make the whole thing a little spikier...maybe...

Does it make sense? :cry

Ok, another flip of the other design, I think it looks better :)

Think so, let me think about it... ooh, you should see the tat I made for a friend.. he has his initials in there, kind of hidden but very tribal looking

normal_morgan_tattoo.jpg

This was just an outline, in the end he filled it all up... I think it looked better filled up , but I don't have that on the computer, he did that at the shop. That was done in illustrator...

Maybe you should look at something like this: http://www.lets-ride.com/photos/images/99998351.jpg -- Looks like an angel in the middle, well sorta.

This is missing the feathers that trail down... they only go up and out.

This is probably one of the 'dorkier' shots of the Marvel superhero "Angel" but it shows how angel wings are often portrayed.

(tripod URL - grrrf!!!!)

A 'tribal' design would be similar, but note that the feathers drape down and out from the 'wings' which sprout up and out from the shoulders. You can make them short and sweet (cherub wings) or long and full (seraphim wings) such as shown here.

I'll work on this when I get home and post the results. I may try and 'overlay' it onto a human figure as well (ain't Photoshop grand?) to see how it looks.

I'd recommend that you test-drive any tat design you come up with using body paint... laser- tat removal is expensive and painful.

Hrm, ok, let me look...

Oh, btw, I think we need a picture of your lower back, I could photoshop these onto there so we can see how they MIGHT look.

Oh, do you care about color? Or you just want it monotone?

Thanks I am getting really anxious now....

Can't wait :)

Yes I will test drive it, I was thinking perhaps having a henna done and see how I feel about it first :shhh

Nope I don't really like colors...

I like the black ink. I may make an exeption for green :)

http://www.lets-ride.com/photos/images/99998351.jpg I am sure it is nice enough :)
