Tesla Model 3: End of the Internal-Combustion Engine?

He is God Level Rich by his own hand, Does Whatever the fuck he wants, says whatever stupid shit is on his mind to the public caring fuck all, smokes weed and apparently fucks like a Grand Champion of some kind.

I wouldn't say that I am a big fan, because I am annoyed by people spewing nonsense the way he does, but I can see how he would have a lot of fans, especially dudes.

I'd say it's Great Man Theory malarkey to say "by his own hands".

But yeah a lot of people are impressed by that I guess. It's about the lowest bar you can achieve if you're god level rich, relatively speaking. you're kind of supposed to be doing that shit lol.

"God level rich" is what sucks. In reality, there's no such thing, because they're on totally different axis'. The conflation is an internal envy.

Range anxiety is a real thing even in a gas vehicle.

From the article:
“We’re looking at the range, and you literally see the number decrease in front of your eyes,” he said of his dashboard range meter."

:laughing. That is how it works, range goes down as you drive, just like on gas cars. Maybe the numbers should wait to go down when you are not looking like the light inside the refrigerator.

Ford sold 720,000 gas cars in Q2, and 34,000 EVs.

They wiped out nearly half their consumer ICE EBIT selling EVs

Mash the gas down all the way on my old Chevy 350 and get all 4 barrels of the Rochester Quadrajet open and I could see the gas gauge move down. :laughing

It's the EPA that figures the range for Teslas, not Tesla! In fact, Tesla asked the EPA to LOWER the range rating of the RWD Model 3 to match the lower range AWD model 3. Tesla did NOT want their more expensive version to show less range. APA will rate less just by asking, but never more than their own testing.

But never expect the range to be accurate on an EV. It's for comparison purposes ONLY.

Cold weather and wind direction and countless other things can lower the range. And other than the cold weather, many things can increase the range as well.

For an example, from here in Auburn, CA from my other house in Reno, NV, it is exactly 99.0 miles in true distance from one driveway to the other. I use around 77 miles of my range coming this way, but around 133 miles going the opposite way. In this case, the difference is the elevation. Much more downhill this direction. This is with my 2018 Tesla Model 3, AWD, LR.

IIRC, the 5K$ cheaper RWD gets around 35 miles more range than the AWD--but advertised as the exact same range.

Speed also makes a BIG difference. My Tesla is rated at 330 miles of range at 65 MPH. It will get around 430 miles at a steady 38 MPH according to charts I have seen. Go faster than 65 MPH and the range drops very fast.

BTW, electric motorcycles are much worse. If you're in a big hurry on a long trip, be sure to ride VERY slow. You cannot make up for the time lost at a charge stop with speed--it does the opposite, even with a so-called fast charger. On electric motorcycles, the slower the better. Each time the speed is doubled you will get around half the range.

all I know is teslas are friggen everywhere around here. has there been a huge jump lately or am i just noticing them more?

For the record I'm very cool with electric vehicles and I'm very excited of what the future holds in regards to transportation. I live in a med. Density urban area, it's about the best transportation solution for me all things considered. I was sold emotos when Zero was cool enough to let me fuck off for 45 min. Unsupervised, on one of their supermoto on Santa Cruz back roads years ago.

Just not a fan of Elon and the bullshit hypejob people so freely give that guy.

Bloomberg's Model 3 owner survey has some interesting results on Model 3 ownership and Elon Musk.

It's interesting to see what Model 3 owners have to say about reliability rather than the internet. :laughing

I have noticed the same both around here as well as around my house in Reno. And on the way here or there, it seems to me that Tesla is the most common car. But perhaps I just notice them more. People are picking up new ordered Tesla every day of the week. And I do mean every day. I picked mine up on a Sunday and the place was packed with others picking up their Teslas. That was back in 2018. I assume even more are being picked up every day these days.

See here. And that was a couple of years ago. A lot more sales these days.

And yet. The ICE engine lives on.

And yet. The ICE engine lives on.

Probably want ICE engine if you driving on highways in Europe. This summer cost of supercharging was double of gas. In Croatia it was 17 euros for electric vs 8 for gas per 100km.
Coming to city near you soon :)

Half the cars in europe are 45mpg manual trans small displacement diesels, so the fuel cost looks about right. I found 8 to 12 eur for 100km electric depending on peak or off peak.

Yeah, but diesel 6.375 euro per gallon

So, 49 MPG?

Also, fuel economy standards outside the US are notoriously off, so that is something to watch out for.

Sounds like more of a corner case because if you do the math, the average fuel economy in Europe is ~40 Miles per gallon of gasoline-equivalent. Diesel sales have dropped since the diesel-gate

Yes, most are 3 cylinders small displacement and good on gas. I usually rent diesel one when there.
That cost of electric is on highway superchargers in peak of tourist season.
I was reading that in normal use if they don't charge at home cost is about same.
Point is once if electric car becomes norm it will cost more to drive one. Will it save the world is to be seen.
