The Electric Motorcycle Thread

I think Harley is supposed to unveil a new Livewire later this month. Anyone have more details on that?

It's gonna be one of those firebird scooters or something equally disappointing

Would be nice if it were a dirtbike

Would be sick if it was, but I'm not holding my breath

Maybe it's the Long Way Up Livewire Edition

F9 guy talking about the importance of the cheaper/weaker small e-motos.

Too bad he doesn't give any credit to what's out there, kept talking about his diy e-suki.
* he did briefly show the Chinese Niu scooter.

Got 2nd place in Adult Open class and 3rd overall for the adults at the Hawk Mazzotta Motocamp Backyard Burner Minibike race! It was a tough race that course was tight. I'll have a race report up in the moto vids section later.

Congrats on the silver

Hmm interesting it will be at the IMS. It looks like a more powerful version of the HD Livewire, the question is what is the price tag?

It's software engineering to bump the power on an electric bike.

Yeah now I'm beginning to suspect it's just the Livewire rebranded. Which is actually ok so long as there is a significant price decrease.

Is it possible to go from 70bhp to 101bhp with just software? I legit have no clue.

From the article:

The VIN filing confirms that the LiveWire One will claim a peak output of 101 bhp (that’s brake horsepower). By comparison, the 2020 Harley-Davidson LiveWire (which we’ll henceforth call by its model code, “ELW”, to avoid confusion) was previously listed in VIN filings at 70 bhp.

um, unless the motor was previously software limited to the lower power, i don't think software can change that much.

That article is very confusing. I think what they meant to say is that the current Livewire is also 101hp peak, but for whatever reason the previous filing was 70hp (continuous power vs peak?)..

So it's probably something very similar to the original Livewire.
