The Electric Motorcycle Thread

Hmm not sure all I saw was dude pushing the bike after he derailed his chain. I've seen it all now scooter motocross.

You must have missed the start at 22min. all Rangers left the Cake behind for the duration. Yep one lost a chain alright, don't know if it fell off or broke. The Ranger chain is pretty minimal for the monster torque and landing jumps can do it in if not done right.[/QUOTE]

^ that looks a fun race, they should do more of those.

Interesting body kit for the Sur Ron Light Bee makes it look more like a modern dirtbike or dual sport. One of the shortcomings of the Light Bee is the lack of fenders. Another shortcoming is lack of a side number plates which this doesn't solve.

More info here no other Sur Ron riders here tho:

Those Kolter Bikes are pretty dope they have the Banshee Storm also. I have not seen one in person yet.

It is when they can't get enough lithium to make batteries, more supply = lower cost, what's one thing people people complain about is EV's cost

I want magic batteries that are cheap, power dense, lightweight and small AND I WANT THEM NOW!!!!

The other complaints against EVs are range and weight. The abundance of high end ICE vehicles demonstrate that cost isn't the barrier to EV adoption some folks claim.

Even CATL admitted these sodium-ion batteries won't replace lithium based batteries. Best case they cite is a hybrid battery system using both but while that would potentially lower costs, it will also reduce range and increase weight, both of which are undesirable.

We still need the next revolutionary step in battery technology...light weight, more power density and relatively cheap & easy to manufacture.

That's a solid point, but this is the electric motorcycle thread.

Well cost matters to me or else I would be driving a Tesla Model S Plaid or a Ferrari or something rediculous. There's no denying that if you want a more capable machine you gotta shell out the big bucks. Not everyone has deep pockets.

Like compare a Zero S vs the Zero SRF, it's nearly double the cost but does more. I guess some people don't need the SRF but I would =P

yes of course cost matter but at the end of the day you're not gonna want to pay money for something that has either 36% more weight or 36% less energy for motorcycle battery packs.

The biggest detractors in e-motos are weight, range, recharge time and cost.
the sodium batts might help with the cost but they will then either add weight or take away range.

I also dont know the volume they take up per watt kg compared to lion.
