The Electric Motorcycle Thread

Lightning article in hot cars.com...
https://www.hotcars.com/lightning-strike-motorcycle-best-feature/

Edit... pretty shallow article, but hey. And I think the Alta is 5.8 kWh...

I can't tell if that article is satire or not.

Honestly, it reads like it was a paid article or just an article after views for money. Most of her work on hotcars appears to be listicles which are written purely for ad-revenue most of the time.

This article is already on Lightning's website under 'news.' I don't believe Lightning would scrape the web for news....

A quick google search shows she also writes about:

Clarisa is a freelance writer who specializes in product reviews alongside other writing niches. Her areas of specialization when it comes to product reviews include but are not limited to Baby items, women’s clothing, makeup, kitchenware, and accessories among other interesting topics. She is an avid reader of biographies and science fiction. When she is not behind her computer working, she is in the kitchen experimenting with different recipes.

but her hotcars bio reads like this:

Clarisa is a freelance writer who got introduced to the world of cars during the worst time in her life. After being in an accident that was caused by things she could not control Clarisa sought answers that welcomed her into the world of cars. Being an avid reader and with the excitement to know more she found herself behind the wheel of sports cars and one thing led another and from that a gearhead was born

:wtf

Clarissa clarissa clarissa…
I just read this
https://www.hotcars.com/best-ktm-dirt-bikes-of-the-2010s/
Which indicates lame writing and editing and lets a little water out of the shallow pool…

Good line: Its peak horsepower has a 4,500 RPM redline.
And another: This transmission has shorter shooting rations between the first five gears.

And the bar on the internet is a little lower.

Nice thanks for the vid I will have to buy you a beer sometime! You got that battle I had with that dude on MX track.

Oh yeah I've seen this bike on instagram. I was thinking if I should convert mine to 12's like this. The 12" tire there are a lot of options for tires because all the minibikes use them. The only issue I see with this is you won't have much lean angle before you start scraping because with the stock supermoto setup on the Light Bee I'm already dragging footpegs, but I guess since you don't have to worry about a brake or shifter lever you can move the foot pegs anywhere you want.

That thing is FAST any one can understand German? In this video they say they are running 700 phase amps. I'm probably running 420 at most and 12kw. They might be running a BAC8000 controller.

ZOMG Sur Ron stop teasing us and get the bike out to the public :(

I guess the good thing is the bike is pretty much at the production stage.

They have been teasing this bike forever for the U.S. They need to ship this thing. They would sell extremely well I think.

Kawi announced all their bikes will be electric by 2035.

Bold move cotton, we'll see how it plays out for them.

They said that this applies to "developed countries" only. So places like South America, Africa, most of Asia will still have ICE.

The Japanese motorcycle manufacturer has announced that by the year 2035, it will only sell electric motorcycles in developed countries.
