The Home Grower's Thread

You'll trellis as many layers as necessary to support the plant, but two layers is pretty common. Every 18-20" or so.

Not sure what folks do for tent trellising. Build a little pvc frame or tie wrap to the walls?

If it were me, I'd toss the dirt each round. What's a 10g pot hold? Less than one bag? And a bag is $15? I'd give the garden all the hand-me-downs. I have some fruit plants that get all the leftovers, they love it.

I do! Even if I didn't enjoy the fruit, I'd probably still grow one just because they're fun. They grow fast, they react to input fast and they're fun to smell. Wish they were perennial.

I planted a clone about 6 weeks ago. I have it in a large pot (the type that Costco sells).

I'm treating it like a tomato plant; just sun and water.

I noticed that my leaves are getting curled and brown at the edges.

Am I over watering / under watering?

Thanks.

Tried that a few years ago and the plants were unhappy from start to finish. Should really feed them once a week.

How frequently are you watering and how much? Summer in the valley/foothill region, you'd need to water every other day until it drains, but maybe every third day with cooler bay temps and humidity.

I am watering about 2x's per week.

I will follow your advice and start feeding it with the products you mentioned. Where do you purchase your food?

My stuff comes from the local garden stores and there's nothing special about it for cannabis. I'd just get something organic from your local spot with a higher N for grow, either dry or liquid concentrate and mix as the label instructs.

Here's a good liquid product if you want to buy online. There's also a link to their feed schedule if you want to get into it a bit more, but just the food alone would do wonders over no feed. I'd get the quart for $14 and try it out before buying a bigger bottle.

As long as your soil drainage is good, it is unlikely that you're over watering.

It could be nutrient burn (too much). Flush it well and see if that helps.

Check out this site for a lot of good info: http://www.growweedeasy.com/

So when growing soil do you water it X times per week or as needed by checking how dry the soil is?

Is it bad for the plant to allow the drained water to sit there in the pot holder? I usually have to take my plants out, water, drain and put back.

I kind of disagree. Putting a small clone directly in a big pot could totally lead to overwatering, which is generally a bigger problem than underwatering. It's hard to say though based on the info. Could be overwatering or sunburn.

Yes. Let it drain.

You guys were spot on regarding the drainage issue. The pot i was using did not have any holes in it. I came home and started drilling holes in the bottom. I also placed the pot atop some wooden blocks.

I did not start the clone in this giant pot. I started it in a small (2 quart) pot.

I ordered the nutrients from Amazon.

Thanks Guys, i will keep you posted.

Clones do best when they go from rock wool cube to 4" pot to #1 to #2 to #4 to #6 to #10 in my experience. They get lost if they get put in too big a pot. Dont let them get root bound either.

4" is on the left.

I'm thinking this gal is pretty close. I'm seeing some amber trichomes.

What say the experts?
