The Home Grower's Thread

Yep, even with the established companies there's sometimes discrepancies. Throw in the home growers making their own and it's a crap shoot.

Yeah, I've made a couple of batches of the gummies now and it is definitely a crap shoot, even within the same batch. I try to continually stir the mixture while putting in the molds, but I'm guessing the oily extract isn't mixing well with the gelatin/water.

Sometimes I get some of those vape cartridges for friends and take a few rips of them and they are so inconsistent. One tastes like straight bho shit! Another tastes really terpy.. another tastes bitter and harsh. They were all the same brand and strain. I would love to understand how dosage works and how to measure it.

My stuff is pretty consistent. Each strain is different of course, but the mix is always the same. We press our rosin at 210° so we don't need to even add many terps. Because we don't cut it with glycol and all of our tips are top of the line double burners every tip we sell is the same quality every month, and they taste like smoking flower.

I'm so fucked, I thought I got rid of the pm and left for a few days to take care of some stuff. Came back and had to cut down about 75% of crop becauee it had pm about 3/4 the way up the stem. I'm so bummed. It was way to crowded in there and I turned fans down to keep noise down. Well I fucked myself :/

So once pm is in your plant you're pretty much screwed becauee it's a airborne pathogen and will continue to just attack the plant? I learned a lot this grow. I'm trying to figure out for next one.
A) tent was overcrowded
B)insufficient air flow
C) didn't treat it fully the first time
D) run dehumidifer when switching to flower
E) don't ever turn down fans

What a bummer, sorry to hear about this. Some days being a farmer can sure be trying.

For the next one I would also add a sulfur put to your list.

What is your brand name? Or things you guys sell? I would be interested in buying some :)

Right now you can only find us in LA, but we are working on increasing our distribution to the Bay Area once we can keep up with the market we are already in. We specialize in solvent less rosin, and Vape cartridges. These days 90% of our rosin ends up in vape cartridges with only the top first press going out in envelopes as budder, taffy, or shatter.

It's funny, I'm actually pressing rosin right now. Haha!

Anyway, keep an eye it for us.

So this is what I was working with. Some parts were worse but spots like this on all the fan leaves, it didn't make it to the buds yet but I just cut everything off and trashed it. At that point there isn't much you can do when it spreads so fast is there? Anyway I cut my crop last night. I was on par for 2-3lbs but now I'm pretty sure I'll be lucky with 1/2p after all the shir I threw away. Overall for my 3rd grow I'm pretty impressed with what I did and what I learned

Bummer on the PM. Mold loves humid and stagnant air, so drop the humidity if you can and get the fans going. You can treat with Dr Zymes and Green Cure, but they're not super effective, imo. You're also putting more water in the buds, so you have to be careful *when* you apply it. Apply it just before lights out and you'll make things worse. Neem oil works well, but you're not supposed to use it in flower. Once it's there, it's always a battle to the end. You can try the hydrogen peroxide wash. I have no experience with it.

Ok I think I found my first ever problem. 2-3 of the top colas/buds have a VERY opaque white top that's spongy and like a mass instead of white hairs. Is this mold? Can I cut them off and save the rest of the stalk?

I don't think it's WPM because the leaves are clean.

nah!!!!!!!! dont cut them off lol!!! daz da guudddd shit!!!!

Wow!

God damn it. I should have waited. I googled it but couldn't find anyhting.

Gress thinks the white tips are unique to LED growing, and although they don’t extend beyond the initial tips of the bud colas, they demonstrate the ability of an LED system. Since switching to an LED setup, she’s noticed other potential benefits as well, such as canopies that stretch less with shorter internodal spacing, which are traits attributed to plants receiving adequate light.

Did some more defoliation, not really for light access but to get rid of anything obviously not getting a lot of light and won't form good buds. Then I used soft flexible plant wires to bind the stems together for support and keep up the dropping plants so everything is now getting great light coverage.

Come on man. Slow down and breath before you cut stuff.

Should I do a flush? I haven't used many nutrients at all as Brokenlink's soil was beautiful but I've used SOME bloom and SOME seaweed extract and the compost teas. Right now it's 100% H20 PH'd down to 6.2

I added a tiny dehumidifier to the tent, it's garbage as far as I can tell might return it. Hardly 1/8th full after 24 hours. Humidity solid 60% all the time.

If I forget to crack the garage door the garage is incredibly tropical when I get home and I did this yesterday and I noticed the top of one of the bucket plants was rather dry/burned....I gave it a little water and cracked the garage and it's fine today but that tiny bud at the top was all dry like it had been cut off and left to dry for a few days so I cut if off...everything else is green and alive.

It's been pretty humid in SF so I need to keep the garage door open for fresh air so the garage doesn't get all humid and too hot in the buckets. For Buckets 2.0 I might add a second intake vent.
