The Official 2012 NFL Thread

Relax. The Saints game will decide where this "contoversy" leads. Smith will start and we should win. Kaep will start and be better in 2013...but he willpay more dues holding clipboard in 2012. Niiiiiiiiiiineeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrs!

Is Kap ready to play a higher powered team like the Saints where he could be asked to play from behind?

I was impressed and do feel his arm is better than Alex's. But playing against Drew Brees is another story. I also feel the defense and special team kept the Bears down.

Some erie stats from the game. Steve Young replaced an injured Montana on a Monday night against the Bears decades ago. Began the Steve Young era.

The opposing QB has like nothing to do with anything. He's not out there playing defense.

All week people were talking about how good the Chicago defense was, and all the takeaways they've got this season, etc. Kaepernick went out and dominated them.

that was a butt whoopin!

great play by the SF offensive line. really good throws by Kaepernick, I'll give him that. especially early, which definitely threw Chicago's defense for a loop.

Harbaugh has a serious decision on his hands that probably will affect the 9ers' chances at the super bowl. cuz right now, if SF doesn't win it all, everyone will point to a bad call for the starting QB decision as the reason. Tough...but I guess a good problem to have.

if that o-line keeps playing like it did last night, it won't matter much who the starting QB is though.

great block yeah, and I was surprised that Gruden didn't comment on it, from what I saw. He was too busy jumpin on Kaepernick's jock to be bothered with that take-down block I guess.

I think he hi-lighted it with a comment about Gore being a great "Do it all" back, and then mentioned he belonged with some of the past greats like Rathman & Craig, but I could be wrong, I was cooking at the time. :laughing

One thing about this performance though, I'll need to see another one before I believe. LOTS of times a back up will come out and kick some ass for one game and then kind of slip. The thing is, there just is NOT that much tape of Kap to study. You can bet every DC left on the Niners schedule and leading NFC Divisions will be studying the shit out of this game on tape. We'll see how other teams do once they've had a chance to pick at Kap a bit.

Eldritch Bait:

The Philadelphia Phillies have won a professional sports competition more recently than the Philadelphia Eagles

uh yeah, Chicago.

Tice's offense made me think of Jimmy Raye. ugh. :|

/run /run /sack

Wow.

I just kept thinking that Kaep is just too good to sit on the bench. He may have to go elsewhere to be the starter. It would seem crazy to bench Smith after all it took to get the team together and working.

But man, he was sharp. He threw too hard to Moss just once, overthrew several for safety I think. But ol; Gruden could barely contain himself, describing in detail what the Niners were doing. I loved watching that game.

As for Jason Campbell, same guy, same deal as when he was a Raider. He's got a dark cloud over him and just seems passive. I'm surprised he's in the league.

Totally. Just a coach's boy that is barely good enough, yet plays his cards right by grabbing low hanging fruit. (Redskins QB, Raiders QB, and Backup Bears job).
