The Official 2015/2016 NFL Thread

, but the pure, outrageous, outlandish chaos of the Niners implosion this off season makes it a lot more bearable.

Yeah this offseason's just been grand aint it?! :laughing

Looks like the Giants and Bengals will be practicing together a bit next week in preparation for the first Pre season game. Hope everyone stays injury free.

LOL, no. At least one Giant will spontaneously explode into a steaming pile of shredded ligaments and lacerated tendons while disembarking from the bus. :rant

Kinda makes Kaep out to be a bit of a selfish douche and not exactly a guy a team would rally around.

Well, there has been previous nonsense about him being self centered, an ego maniac, etc. I don't know if this is what it looks like, but hide the sausage with a teammate's girl would fit that profile.

my apologies dude, i've been in a bad fucking mood all week :party

A looming 2-14 season would put any NFL fan into a bad mood. The other three teams in the NFC West have really good defenses, that puts the Niners at 0-6 even before the season starts...who else on their schedule can they defeat? Bears and Browns are the only two games they have a legit shot at winning. :laughing

Start a poll for niner and raiders w/l record for lulz?

So much fail for 9ers. Raiders win the battle of the Bay.

Not much of a title.

True, true. But why is his injury so hush-hush? This could be career-ending.

Because he is trying not to lose any money. He was holding out for a contract when this went down. He didn't sign his franchise tag before the injury. As I understand it, the NYG can put him on the Non-Football PUP list until he is able to play if he signs the tag now, which means he gets no money for games that he misses. I think he is know trying to keep them in the dark till his agent can figure out a way to salvage the most money out of this train wreck. He has only talked to ANYBODY from the team in like the last week. We have sent coaches and doctors down to Florida to meet with him since the day of the accident and he has been turning them away and since he is not under contract, he has no obligation to talk to them.

The whole thing is kind of a mess.

Yup, and like many KS threads, alcohol is an underlying factor. :laughing

You don't want to see a pro athlete throw away jillions of dollars through stupidity though, sad situation that hopefully isn't career-ending. That one Duke basketball player who crashed his motorcycle and never much played again in the NBA comes to mind.

Before the Smith implosion I thought they were at least a .500 team; now, not so much.

it does look really bad. but Brooks would take over where A.Smith was. Even after everything, all is not lost for the 9ers. Smith's release just leaves them even more thin on defense, and puts even more onus on Kaep to keep his offense on the field longer. A lot of 'ifs'

and speaking of alcohol, in a stupor I made a very risky bet with a 9er fan friend. I bet him $50 that the Raiders would have a better record. he didn't even flinch before accepting, and as we shook on it I thought that maybe it wasn't a great bet after all, haha. oh well.

It just illustrates the different levels the two teams are on. the 9ers are going to struggle, but I think they'll still end up 7-9(ers). whereas I think it would be a large reach to see the Raiders even get to 7-9.

Even if the Raiders and Santa Clara both finish 7 - 9, you have to think that the Raiders 7-9 is a step in a climb up to a winning record, where Santa Clara looks like its in a free fall to where first or second pick in the draft is the consolation. Should be an interesting year.

do you think it's possible the 9ers tank the season to get a highly-rated QB in the 2016 draft?

anyways, I was stoked to see football on last night. even if it was the scrubs playing. football's back, baby!

Doubtful. I think they will be better than the 2 win team a lot of folks seem to be expecting. I think Kaep will be good enough this year to make the Niners suffer under him for another couple years of ups and downs. I feel like a few years of nightmarish purgatory are in the future for San Jose's red and gold.

Yeah... but I bet beer. :laughing

I'll give credit to Junior Davis, he hired a good, tough coach in Del Rio, and I really like the hiring of Norton as DC. Reports are practices have been "crisp" and the younger players are responding to the newly established "Leadership Council" of vet/established players. OC Musgrave is a question mark, though, but picking up the pace a la Chip Kelly (Musgrave came from the Eagles) certainly won't hurt.

There does seem to be optimism in Raider country they will emerge from the dark years, while most 9er fans don't seem to thrilled with the changes. I will be curious to see how Kaep responds to simpler play calling and if working with Kurt Warner really helped.
