The Official 2015/2016 NFL Thread

nice game by the 9ers. Bowman looked good on his first and only series.

The Raiders secondary needs help. Its about time to give up on DJ Hayden. he was a dumpster fire out there. PI on a 3rd-and-long. burnt repeatedly. gave up a TD and a 4th down conversion. OUT with you! It would have been worse if the d-line didn't step up to get more QB pressure.

He (DJ) still has the speed, just hasn't developed the skills, a problem going into his 3rd year, but who do they turn to? (Carrie looked good, though.)

First team D looks solid. I'm still worried about the big plays it may give up and want to see more on the pass rush. Not enough passing plays or situations in pre-season to get a good picture.

The offense is going to be okay again. Will light it up against middle to weak defenses. Will struggle against solid defenses. I'm still hoping Bush is the incendiary device that sets it off.

i wasn't holding my breath on Jarred Hayne but it's getting really difficult to stay calm about his potential.

That said, Reggie Bush still has some shake 'n bake left in the tank.

Sadly I think this means Mike David goes to the p-squad and Kendall Hunter gets cut. Bummed because I am a K. Hunter fan and wanted to see him get a real shot without any injuries.

Here's the predicted 53-man at Niner's Nation:

RB (4): Carlos Hyde, Reggie Bush, Mike Davis, Jarryd Hayne
TJE and Dahl are gone. It looks good to me given what I've seen. Except Skov isn't on the ILB list. Fucillo is usually pretty close in his prediction on this.

The hot team right now is the Eagles. They cooked up something special over the off-season and are coming out blazing. Let's see how far they can take it into the season. Preseason or not they took it to the Ravens 1s v 1s.

Would it make you feel better if I added "but it's only preseason" to the commentary? If you have NFL Network take a watch for the first quarter. The Eagles looked legit. Problem is that these aren't 19-23 year players. Their bodies get run down in Chip Kelly style offense over the span of the season. It's the biggest reason they lured Murray away from the 'Boys and have a committee of running backs now. Sprinkle on top Bradford's frailty and it could go south quickly. For now the Kelly green fighting machine looks sharp.

Matt Barkley looks like a different QB these days... making a solid case to be #2 over Sanchez.

... and yeah, Suggs hit on Bradford was cheap shot in a regular season game, let alone a pre-season game, but credit to Bradford, he took it.

But that was against other 3s. I doubt he gets ahead of Sanchez on the depth chart. Tebow may take the 3rd spot as insurance for the run game as well. Barkley may be the odd man out.

Yeah, you know me!

LOL, I think we both know for both teams that is a wise decision.

I really have no love for pre season football. I think it's rotten for the players. What is the average NFL career, 5 years? Asking these guys to play in August is just a money grab for the owners and the league and in my opinion puts unnecessary wear and tear on the players.

The only good reason to have a pre season is to find out who on your second string really wants to be there. I can see playing maybe 2 games with non starters to figure out who is going to make the team.

Totally, dude. If he can stay healthy that team is going to take the East this year. It's huge "if." Proved he can take a cheap shot from Suggs though.

I'm gonna drop a Dick Engberg "OH MY!"...

Steelers sign Vick as Ben's back-up.

Saw signs of this early yesterday. Did not know a deal had been done. I think it's cool. I've always liked Vic and think he got a raw deal on the whole dog fighting thing. Not that I condone dog fighting I just think he was crucified for not having a "fall guy." :|

I used to think this. My position has evolved though. Football is a human meat grinder. Last I heard the average career is just under 3 years. There is no way to make it better other than to stop playing it. Doesn't matter if they play 10 games a year or 20. People are going to get hurt. I'd like to see them expand the roster and play more regular season games. As far as having all the potentials participate in pre-season while letting the guaranteed starters sit out seems a bit upside down if your philosophy is that every position is up for grabs until cuts are made. Besides, how do you know if a guy can play well against 1s if he lights it up against 2s and 3s? You really can't. It's the same reason why some people are great in college and then look like crap in the pros. You have to play against the best to prove you can.

Yeah, I barely pay attention to it, but I understand the value for knocking some of the rust off your starters and more importantly, testing new talent. I see it more as a value proof for rookies than a second string tester. Who goes to the practice squad and who will warm the bench, that kind of thing.

totally, dude. If he can stay healthy that team is going to take the east this year. It's huge "if." provided he can take cheap shots from the entire dallas cowboys defense and offense (dirty fucks, how they get o-lineman to kick bradford in the knee, we don't even know) though.

ftfy
