The Official 2016/2017 NFL Thread

You been to Dallas, or Texas in general? To them, football is like religion.

Yeah, I know, which is why it's fun to watch them lose, but that pic just me sad, like a picture of a circus clown in an iron lung....

In other Texas team news, JJ Watt has developed his own branding logo:

(Haven't I seen similar on a pRon site?)

Cleveland Browns released WR Brian Hartline.

Browns fans are skeptical. :laughing

"It's a surprise in that the Browns have zero receiver depth and Hartline was easily their best holdover, but entirely unsurprising in the context of their commitment to tanking the 2016 season."

Odd when NFL players wait to have their bodies repaired. Or are they trying to purposely dodge the sweat and stress of training camp? Now the Bengals probably won't have Eifert, who is the 2nd-best tight end in the NFL (behind Gronk) available to start the season.

You're supposed to have the surgery as soon as the old season ends, so you're ready for the new season. Not wait so late in the game.

And wow, Jed York is getting political....and I like it! :thumbup

http://www.csnbayarea.com/49ers/49e...ty-nc-calls-governor-repeal-controversial-law

The San Francisco 49ers are deeply concerned about North Carolina’s recently-enacted House Bill 2, which overturned protections for LGBT people and sanctioned discrimination across the state,” York said in a statement released by Equality NC. “HB 2 does not reflect the values of our organization, of our country, or the majority of North Carolinians.

We firmly believe that discriminatory laws such as HB 2 are bad for our employees, bad for our fans, and bad for business. We believe that HB 2 will make it far more challenging for businesses across the state to recruit and retain the nation’s best and brightest workers and attract the most talented students from across the country. It will also diminish the state’s draw as a destination for sporting events, tourism and conventions, and new business activity.

Discrimination is wrong, and we believe it has no place in North Carolina or anywhere in our country. As an organization that prides ourselves on being inclusive and welcoming to all, we strongly urge Governor Pat McCrory and the leadership of North Carolina’s legislature to repeal this law in the current legislative session.

He should worry about the state of his team and not the state of North Carolina....

But good for him taking a stand, of sorts. If the Panthers are on the schedule, I'm sure they'll still play them.

Sounds like he got bad advice about letting it heal itself, or the dude is just a slow healer. He's a great TE yes, but seemingly made of glass. Hopefully he'll be ready for the first game, second at worst.

Yeah, I mean, surgery is always scary for a player, because you know recovery is rarely a promise, you have to do a lot of work and you may not come back 100%. I think a lot of guys cross their fingers and hope it will work out for the best on its own.

This photo from OTA's yesterday shows the best offensive line Tannehill has enjoyed since he came into the league. :laughing

Steelers say their only division rival is Baltimore. Sorry, Bungles. :laughing

Well to be honest in the head to heads, that makes sense. Baltimore has been beating the steelers lately. The Bengals have a three or four season winning streak on Baltimore, and the Steelers beat the Bengals more times than not. If you asked Baltimore who they'd rather play, I'm sure they say Pitt over the Bengals.

Sure those two have won lots of playoff games in the past 20 years, how bout Cincy? :p
