NFL/Raiders 500M

Vegas Hotel tax 750M

Adelson/Goldman Sachs 650M -- they bowed out, now they have BofA to finance that.

City of Oakland is not putting up any money. That is why the Raiders will ultimately end up leaving.

LOL, If I was in a town as beat ass as Oakland, I would riot if they put up bucks for a football team, and I don't believe in riots. Oakland LOVES riots. The graft and corruption in Oakland (and the Bay Area in General) has left da Town essentially bankrupt, let Las Vegas buy themselves something nice instead. Let Oakland buy some roads and a couple of cops. :laughing

oh absolutely agree. They're still fuckin paying off that bullshit in the A's centerfield view.

plus the 750M from Vegas is coming as a hotel room tax, so it's not even really people who live in town that are paying it.

Prince Davis really wants out of Oakland, even if they handed him everything he wanted he'd still push for leaving. (I think he's a huge Wayne Newton fan.)

Jerry Jones wants to have a say in helping the Raiders move to LV because his fear is they'll move to San Antonio and take a bite out of his market, but he is betting that Davis wants to, and will, move the team. He really doesn't want a 3rd team in Texas.

Again, I have no problem with them moving since I'm watching football mostly on my hi-def tv.

The autumn wind is a Raider....

Las Vegas Raiders is SUCH a good fit though too.

a good point brought up on radio this morning:

if Davis gets the Raiders to Vegas, it will be a very impressive end-around of and slap in the face to the most influential person in Nevada. Davis used Adelson like an amateur to get the governor to enact a tax never voted on by the state population, then kicked him to the curb knowing full well Adelson was demanding a piece of ownership the whole time.

This could be the narrative coming from peers in the Vegas empire.

I, for one, think Adelson is redfaced about this and will do everything in his power (which is substantial) to block this. I also think that Davis will find a way to screw it all up anyways.

IDK, that's giving a lot of credit to Prince Davis that I'm not sure he deserves, but it's plausible.

I think that's giving Davis waaaaaay to much credit.

His dad could pull some shit like that, but I highly doubt that junior could.

edit: Appears that the stadium itself will be collateral for the BofA financing. That's easier for Davis to stomach rather than giving Adelson part ownership of the team.

Niners are cleaning house. Bethea and Torrey Smith cut, and they didn't even tender their RFAs.

Amazing as it seems after the Baalke debacle, I really do feel like they are taking the right steps to build a real football team down there.

Baalke built the team once, he just got full of himself and then fucked up and they lost a ton of talent.

Though I feel like Shanahan could probably have utilized Smith.

LOL, Baalke didn't build shit till they got a Coach that could use it and Ballke chased him out of the NFL. :laughing

Just checking to see if gloating about the Patriots' victory is still permitted on this year's thread?

New Season's thread. Patriots havent won shit here. (yet) Go pull your dick out in last season's thread.

interesting, Oakland met with NFL owners the same day the BofA funding in Vegas was released. yet, the meeting went under the radar. here's Libby Schaff's statement (from the merc):

Here is Schaaf’s full statement:

“Oakland is ready to compete. We were excited to be offered the opportunity to make a presentation before the National Football League’s Joint Stadium and Finance Committee in Florida. We want to thank the NFL for this invitation to share our vision for a locally-supported proposal that could result in a new home for the Raiders in Oakland.

“Today, we presented a plan that we believe responsibly meets the needs of all parties. We made a sound economic case for keeping the Raiders in Oakland through the creation of what could become one of America’s premier mixed-use sporting venues. Ours is a project that enhances the use of the already-entitled Oakland Coliseum site for the Raiders and for the public benefit and leverages the site’s proximity to BART and other public transit options, Oakland International Airport and major freeways.

“The Oakland solution for the Raiders keeps the Raiders at home in Oakland, in the country’s sixth largest media market that is demonstrating strong growth due to its innovative and diverse economy.

“What we presented demonstrated the commitment and effort made by the jurisdictions that oversee the stadium land — Alameda County and the City of Oakland. I thank Alameda County Supervisor Scott Haggerty and Oakland City Council President Larry Reid for their leadership. We have worked collaboratively with Ronnie Lott, Rodney Peete and the investors they have assembled behind this Oakland-based project. Together, we’ve created a framework that gives the Raiders a new stadium in Oakland that is responsible to the team, the league, the fans and Oakland taxpayers.

“The City of Oakland is prepared to support this effort in a way that does not endanger the City’s general fund using the “but for” taxes generated by the project to provide up to $200 million for public infrastructure and transportation improvements. This will support a new stadium and ancillary development that will enhance the economic vitality of East Oakland and better serve our community. Additionally, the City and the County are prepared to leverage the value of the land at this transit-rich site to create jobs, an enhanced fan experience and other opportunities.

“Ronnie Lott, Rodney Peete and the Fortress Group bring the financial assets and the capability to ensure construction completion, manage the sale of private seat licenses and cover any cost overruns – three things that are essential for a successful project to get done. Ronnie Lott and Rodney Peete also bring deep and extensive ties with the NFL, the Raiders and our community.”

That's a long ass statement to say absolutely nothing.

the most important part: As fuckstick Davis runs around screaming "I'd love to stay in Oakland, but they haven't given us a plan!", Oakland had the ear of the NFL owners
