Okay... I watched the intro presser...

I'm not exactly doe-eyed smitten like Mark Davis appeared to be, I'm kinda pumped up with Gruden's return! :laughing

This was the best day of Mark's life.

I think he's more mystique than money. At least that's the way his record reads from my perspective. I get that Raiders fans think he would have won the Superb Owl for them had he been allowed to stay in Oakland rather than traded off to the Bucs. There was some weirdness to that championship though what with the Raiders all pro center just not showing up for the game and all. Fishy.

Gruden making the Raiders contenders again seems like a long shot to me. And if he does it will be more luck than preparation/execution.

I get it, Raider-Hater-Ade runs deep in you, and that's fine. Do you hold Shanahan to the same test given he did coach the offense of a team that blew the biggest lead in Super Bowl history? (All he had to do was call one run play and they don't lose that lead by handing the Pats the ball time after time.)

The Raiders still seem to be on an upward trend to me, but with a setback this past year. Del Rio, Godbless him, was a defense minded coach and left the offense to itself. When they didn't bring Musgrave back the offense became one dimensional, but there's still talent, and cap room. That's a good situation to step into, not like the Raiders of 4 or 5 years ago. What was it, last year they went like 6-2 in one score games, and this year it was flipped, or somewhat close to it? Really, it came down to singular plays in some of those games.

Trust me, this Raider fan isn't delusional, just optimistic.

Now if I were a 9er fan, I'd be more worried about actually signing Jimmy G to a long term contract because his stock went waaaaaaay up, and there's a horse-faced GM in Denver that would probably love to stick it to his old Stanford Alum friend that's running said 9ers. I almost forgot... there's a really rich guy in the Washington DC area that may throw a pile Jimmy G's way. Would it be rude if I said "Enjoy your Kirk Cousins!"?

Let the games begin, looks like the Raiders will be leaving the BA with a bang!

Jimmy G is going to get paid and he’ll be in the crimson and gold again next season. Shanny is a “new” head coach. Tough year for a first time head coach but I’d say he acquitted himself well enough given what he had available to him. The proof will be his sophomore showing. I think he’ll get it back to double digit wins. Might not be enough to make it into postseason but it’ll still be a huge step.

watch out, ESPN hot take coming in! :laughing

They lost because of 2 plays - Matt Ryan taking a sack and losing enough yards to get out of FG range, and then directly after that a pass play to get back into FG range was negated because of a holding penalty.

I used to do sales and the rule was if they haven’t signed, you don’t have a deal. :laughing

I’ve seen pen get millimeters from the contracts, only to back away, but I’m sure you’re right. Who’s JG’s agent?

You understand he's under contract for next year with the Niners no matter what, right? If they franchise him and he doesn't sign, he cannot play anywhere else.

He's got no other option. He could, for some reason, try to force a trade to another team. Why though? Nobody else can pay him as much, has cap room to give him more weapons, and has a coach who develops MVP quarterbacks.

Why wouldn't he want to be the next great QB for a franchise with a history of great QBs?

I got ATL and NE as easy picks for Saturday

Sunday will be interesting, I think. Can the Jags repeat or will PIT figure them out? Will the Vikes surprising defense keep it close enough for their offense? Will playoff jitters affect Jags or Vikes? Dunno.

I think it'd be fun to watch the Jags play NE instead of PIT but my brain says PIT's too good and Bortles will fuck it up (Jags with Alex Smith next year will be top 3 team in the league).

I have no idea what's gonna happen between the steamroller Saints O and that srs bznz Vikes D.

I think PIT steamrolls JAX. Bortles is fucking awful.

I'm 100% rooting for the Jags and Titans now, but don't think either squad has it in them. I don't expect Pitt to be laying down this time either, I will be amazed if Bortles can survive the frozen Ketchup.

:laughing

Thank you all for your confidence but I will NOT be surprised if Ben goes color blind and throws to the wrong team again 5 times.

I will not break my tv if they lose
I will not break my tv if they lose
I will not..

i think the confidence is in the fact even a color blind Big Ben is better than Bortles lol

I had my eye on both Mariota and McCaffrey last weekend, watching both of their games.

I really felt that Mariota grew up in this last game and established himself, fulfilling the promise that his college career showed. I kinda root for the kid and try and catch highlights of Titans games, but always wonder if he, along with McCaffrey, can make the transition in the face of the much more pro opposition to thrive.

Still not sure if McCaffrey has a place but he just seems so much more reliable than some of his bigger teammates at getting the job done. He was like a spark of light in the otherwise sad Panther offensive performance. Ol' Cam barely smiled in that game....

It just seemed like a turning point for Mariota. How that translates to next game, I dunno.

I have a lot of hope for both young teams. Someday my dream of all 31 Teams having a Superbowl Ring in the interest of parity and unity will be realized. I also root for Detroit every year when the Giants are not a contender.

That's the problem I have with this team. The MOMENT they think they are better than someone they flub. They play down to their opponent and let them stay in games that should be blowouts. We have been killed this year by big plays.

You let your opponent hang around and have a tendency to give up big plays? yeah that's a recipe for disaster.
