In 40 years of doing them, I've crashed once. YZ465 at Clear Creek. Coming over a ridge on the main dirt road, lofted the front, hit an ice patch (it was just getting light about 6:30am), back wheel stepped out. That ice hurt. Oh, make that twice. Same bike. Clear Creek, same road, maybe a year or two later or before, it's been a long time. Another wheelie, left grip comes off. Ride 'em cowboy, fell off the back. I glue and safety wire the grips on now.
Roman, keep your foot on the rear brake, but if it starts tipping past the balance point, just lean on it a little bit, don't slam it down. Things happen a little slower if you're in second or third (if your bike will do them in second or third), than in first. I clutch it up, find a good spot of torque, fan the clutch, and practice.
