I've crapped on a few FS threads over the years. I see an Acura TL listing, which I have no intention of buying (even if it was free), and all I stick in there is "has the transmission been replaced yet?" And the answer doesn't even matter. It pretty much implies to ayone else reading the thread that the tranny is a guaranteed to fail time bomb and effectively shit all over that thread.

Kind of douchey, but who's more important...the feelings of the seller who's just trying to get rid of the car or the feelings of the potential future owner who thought they bought a nice car only to need a $4k transmission job sooner than later?

I saw a thread recently where, and I'll blur the details a bit, a super high mileage car that has a shitload of mods for the track, and was tracked...this car is selling for thousands over. Didn't say anything (public) on that one, but damn I really wanted to.

For sure, I fully support calling out dangerous or misrepresented ads.

I should have included the poll option: "I'd send the seller a PM about the price"

I've been seeing a lot more thread crapping everywhere lately.
Thread crapping on a build thread, thread crapping on a birthday/memorial thread, thread crapping on an invitation to ride in a foreign country thread, it's everywhere and it's getting old.

That's not thread crapping. That's saving people too stupid for their own good. You cannot honestly suggest that riding through Pakistan is a safe thing for an American, can you???

I'm the original thread-crapper and cuntcake in classifieds... :teeth

I can't talk about my suspensions years ago. :rofl

All I did was make a smart ass comment.

The magic word is GLWS. :)

I never knew that was code. If it is such well known code for "this shit is overpriced" then why not just say "this shit is overpriced?"

Personally I think the entire idea of 'threadcrapping' is dumb. "Don't you dare say anything negative! Only cheer leading is allowed!" Especially in a public forum like this. If someone is trying to screw over others it's the membership's duty to try to prevent it. At least if they have any amount of empathy. Just like it's the duty of anyone that knows better to try to steer noobs from stupid decisions. How many people got away with fucking over people for a long time because no one dared to call out their shit publicly? At least 2 I know of...

because you are not allowed to "discuss" the price in classifieds

oh and wasn't "Doved" being used for a while as well?

You're a hater! Two Bulgarian dudes did it just fine!

Hey ! This is not fucking Calguns where you have to act like it's your grandpa's house, and he's got the swear jar out !

We motorcyclist have always been a close community, we weed out thiefs, liars, and parasites. Remember brewbacca, Gforce and some others ? The saying "Don't be a Dick" appies to everyone here, and I know we have a better community for it.

So if you're selling something, and you don't like the communites opinion on it, remember that it's a free site, by the way so is craigslist. /ashwholerant

How would thread crapping in the classifieds be any different than going to a place of business, say a local gun store, and telling someone looking at a gun that they could get that same gun for a better price at X, Y, or Z store or website? People shopping in the BARF classifieds should be old enough to make their own purchasing decisions. They should do their own damn homework and know what a fair price is, what they are willing to pay (sometimes this is a price that is not "fair market value" because that person really wants it and wants it now and does not mind paying an inflated price), and they should be savvy enough to do their own negotiating.

I see the same items on auction websites, and store shelves, for years because the seller wants more than anyone is willing to or has the money pay for it. This is the way the market is supposed to work. Something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay and as the old saying goes, buyer beware.

Classified threads are there to be left alone unless the seller is bogus. If someone wants $2k for a bike you know is only worth $1.2k, it's none of your fucking business. If you know the seller is a con man it is your business.

Why? Because classifieds are like the KS. There are open racists in the KS, and it's not against TOS. That allows us to SEE who the open racists are. It's not a bad thing.

Even so, having been the dumbass kid who doesn't know jack about motorcycles and having people trying to rip him off with his first bike, I might step in privately to give someone in a similar situation a wakeup call.

I see nothing wrong with doing that and I would and have done the same.

Some people posted GLWS also. I didn't realize it was a veiled insult.

It depends on the context of the rest of the post that's included with the GLWS. If it's just the GLWS by itself, it's typically a veiled insult. However theres been plenty of times where I posted GLWS and a drooling emoticon or something else with it because I meant it in a nice way, not disparagingly.

Easy, they're not having to say it in meat space when they say it here. Its always easier to air your opinions when you're safely behind a keyboard.

So true.

Sometimes the threadcrappers in the classifieds are wrong, e.g. that one threadcrapper that ended up getting Beauregard suspended when he was trying to sell a rifle at a very fair price.
