Top Places to eat in the Bay Area

In SF....

Buca de Pepo.....!!!

Homemade style Italian food.....

Best to go when extremely hungry with minimum of 4 people......

Giant Chef Burger in Pleasant Hill (Golf Club Rd) - stick-to-ya-ribs biscuits and gravy, and killer omlettes

Madras Restaurant in San Ramon (San Ramon Valley Blvd, just south of the Harley dealership) - great Indian buffet

La Ultima in Danville (main drag) - New Mexican cuisine, try the stuffed sopapilla

And for you sport-tour types --

The Bobcat Bite, Old Pecos Highway outside of Santa Fe NM - the ULTIMATE green chile cheeseburgers on the planet!!

rue lepic, corner of pine and mason

the food is amazing, the kitchen is in the front so you see them making everything fresh (just one chef, the female owner) and the waiter is super nice.

it's tiny, quaint and really freaking amazing. i think they're only open for dinner. with a date get the prix fixe and an entree and share the salad, appetizer and desert with your date.

counting the atmosphere, quality of service, amazing quality of food, portion size (it's not one of those uppity here's two peas and a carrot restaurants) it's simply the best restaurant i have ever eaten at in san francisco or new york. it's hardly reviewed or advertised anywhere because the people who eat there want to keep it for themselves.

In San Jose area, on Saratoga Ave. near AMC14 is Holder's Country Inn...awesome food, breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They have amazing cakes, too. Prices are very reasonable...a good Steak & Eggs lunch will go for ten bucks.

Also in the San Jose area, Grandview Mt Hamilton is an awesome awesome place to be, especially if you get there half an hour before sunset...once the sun starts setting, you're up on the mountain, it's so awesome....plus the road up there is tons of fun to drive (if you're in a cage, gets bumpy). The food is continental type of stuff that'll leave your mouth watering. Cost me about $50 for a dinner for two...

If you and your friends have $7 each and two hours to burn, Denny's does it :)

There is also one in the pruneyard in Campbell..right across the street from Taco Bravo

Buca di Beppo sux ass for good italian... you're retarded.

It's cheap and decent for how many ppl you can feed. But I wouldn't necessarily call it the best. :teeth

casa gourmet burrito in lafayette. more of a cult place for our high school, but it is really good, one of few burrito places i can stand

Anyone ever try The Stinking Rose in the North Beach Area? I heard that place is good, but have never been. And another thing...is Blowfish Sushi in SF really all that or is it just hype?

stinkin rose is aight. i would order a bunch of appetizers instead of full meal, funner that way. if with a date ask to be seated upstairs in the balcony.

well there's nice and then there's nice :twofinger

put on some good threads, buy some flowers, and take your date to Post Trio in SF (yes you will be driving or cabbing it not walking in with your gear and lids). don't know what to eat then try the tasting menu which is a sampler of the best. your waiter will assist you with selecting wine or champagne or anything else. everybody should have a fine dining experience. last weekend Rob Schneider was there and hey, if it's good enough for the male giggolo, well... :toothless

ps.
BakSeatRed you have some great pics! I'm going to check out some of them.

Stinking Rose STINKS! Ok, it doesn't stink but it's pretty much identical to about 12 other semi crappy creamsauce faux northern italian places in north beach.... go to L'osteria Del Forno, (519 Columbus Ave) it's just up the street and is distinctly different from those other places. Small place, country italian, great pizza (good as a shared appetizer), daily specials and Yummy teramisu. Or you can go across the street and up one block (towards downtown) and go to Stella's Pastries (446 Columbus Ave) for and awesome dessert, try the Sacre Pantina (sp)

Blowfish was pretty good around 2000 but has gone down hill considerably since then, the atmosphere is kinda neat (anime) but the fish is kinda just "ok". If you want good Sushi in SF go to Sakana (639 Post St) or maybe Ebisu (9th and Irving). They have more traditional decor and are distinctly less hip but the fish is excellent.

Have fun and Good eatin' :)

Max,
I'm glad you like em, I've only lived in the city for 5 years but I have a few friends in the industry and we all LOVE to go out to eat and check out what's goin on with the SF Restaurant scene. Let me know where ya end up going and what ya think :)
