I think your dad would have quite a few owners of triple cylindered engines that would disagree with him on this. Including quite a few motorcycle race winners.

but the endless stream of misinformed crap that he spews drives me absolutely batshit.

Time didn't stop in the '40s and '50s when they got their education. They just think it did.

Go on google and search for Kawi H3, Triumph Slippery Sam or Triumph Trident, BSA Hurricane, BMW engine reliability, etc.

You came on here and made a blanket statement with nothing to back it up other than what your dad told you. If you had posted this on any of the Triumph forums, you would have already have had your ass handed to you. Be happy that barf is such a nice friendly site.

By the way, my failure of a triple has done over 16K miles in 7 months without even a valve adjustment. I don't know what I was thinking buying such an unreliable bike. Next time I'll definitely go buy a cookie cutter inline 4 like everyone else, they never have problems. :rolleyes

yeah, I should have stated that I wasn't sure of this to be true... the title is misleading, I just wanted people to read the thread and figured if it sounded like i was seriously bashing triumph then I'd turn a few heads.

What did I expect? I don't know, maybe a few bashings, but on how I'm wrong, not my innocent dad who is just misinformed due to my own stupidity. Bashing doesn't bug me, but of all the bashing I get one or I think maybe two actual posts with an answer that showed proof. Sorry, saying you have a degree and then not explaining sufficiently why or showing me an example doesn't do crap... for anybody.
