what is this ‘tipping point’ you are referring to? and what are you pushing back against? the day laborer who stole your engineering job?

and lol at early immigrants coming here legally. my family is the same. and we found out later, the side of my family (maternal great grandfather and his brothers) that immigrated from russia lied on their applications. it’s distant history now, but if they’d have been truthful, there’s no way they would have been admitted. more likely arrested. certainly, refused entry.

and if you don’t think it’s about racism, and taking advantage of cheap labor that had no other option - tell it to the irish (huge numbers of whom were brought to this country as indentured servants).

our pattern has been the same for centuries; lure, exploit and scapegoat.

Those of us that regularly attend hold you in the highest esteem. Not so much because we are too lazy to lead it ourselves, but because we like to have somebody to Heap praise upon.

Cool shirt! Saw him in Germany in the 90' or 91'. No one wanted to be next to the stage so we were there the whole show. He'd look at you and makes faces...the whole damn show. It was amazing.

Have you watched the documentary on Petty's death? Gnarly dude....
 
I'm thinking the pain is worse now that I am out of the boot and goodness gracious, am I a tired woman. I am thinking TGIF, although that means nothing. Weekly hour plus calls with the boss on the weekend are life now.

I don't want to have to lay anyone off.
 
Came out of my office one afternoon about two weeks ago and saw this:

Guarding its (soon to be) meal. I yelled at it and it did nothing but stare at me. I walked towards it and it didn't move. The Duck; pretty darn lifeless. Standing on her head/ neck, gripping. I kept walking and getting the stare down. When I got to about 3 feet from them, the Hawk took off and landed on my building's roof; watching.

Waiting for me to leave. The Duck? She flipped over and took off for the pond ASAP. Feathers everywhere and her listing a bit in the pond next to her mate, I was shocked she was still alive. There was a FIGHT that took place on that lawn. I figured she'd be dead by am, with how she looked. The Hawk flew to trees closer to the ducks and was then chased out by around 50 or so crows. Pretty neat to watch that happen. I saw the duck back the next day looking better and then she was gone. The male duck kept coming back, but no female. Sadly, she must've not made it.


Then, today, I come into work to this:

Male duck's been gone all day (saw him fly off this am), but he'll be back. Duckling support order. The Fray, How to Save a Life played in my head.

...didn't really think much about how the intersection of my stretch break at just the right time and her life mattered to the point where 8 ducklings were made. Let's hope some make it through their youths.
