What Are You Thinking Of Right Now?

as per usual on veterans day, thinking about my dad (intense and super disciplinarian air force officer). my mom’s second husband, and not my biological father, but when they got married - he adopted me and my sister (i was 9 at the time), so technically, my dad - and he always treated me like his own daughter, which was awesome (even if he could be a total prick at times). he has since passed away.

for some reason this year am thinking about my senior year in high school when i came home well after midnight, totally shit-faced drunk, laying on my bed with a serious case of bed spins. my bedroom door opens and he’s standing there in the open door silhouetted by the hall light. i look over at him, and he says simply ‘you’re disgusting’. i reached down to the floor next to my bed, picked up a shoe, and threw it at him. he didn’t say another word, just shut the door and left. afterwards, he never said a word about it. ever.

he served his country, made a great life for our family, and loved us all in his own way.

i love him, and i miss him.
 
Thinking there is some real life stuff with the sum of the equation being love and good memories.
 
I shut the door and she freaked, I opened the door and she bolted. The coyotes were loud and I worried for her all night; this morning there she is, demanding breakfast. I need to be here all the time the thought of the Bay Area hurts my very being.

And the flag waving, patriotic, chest thumping, bombastic owner of the company that employs me didn't give me, the only combat veteran on staff, a day off or recognition.

I'm thinking, I hope my little Lake County cat and her kitten are staying warm and dry. I'm thinking the cat door will be installed this week and hopefully she'll figure it out and be safe for the winter.
I also think, as much as we need the rain I am sad to say farewell to summer.

I am thinking about getting my jacuzzi up and running today! Whoot! Cleaning it sucked though :laughing
 
am thinking about plumber dude. took a lot of back and forth to get him here to do some basic maintenance, but when he arrived, we got to talking about bikes, cars, travels - anything but the job. thing is - i loved the connection. cool guy. took great care of us, and did awesome work.
 
I am thinking it is a Holiday week and it does not feel like it.
