What will be your next motorcycle?

My next bike? I retired last year so I got the close to my last bikes ever. I got an Indian Sport Chief for blasting around town and a Indian Pursuit for doing some real touring during my retirement. I realize these aren't popular around here and even considered bad choices but I'm deliriously happy and look forward to years of happy motoring. Flame suit on!
It is 2 wheels. They make you smile. :thumbup

norton commando. gotta clear out garage space, and then go hunting.
@littlebeast
Are you sold on a commando?
I have a gorgeous restored 67 Atlas that has been sitting under a cover off the road for way too long...

I also realize that most people who have a hankering for something old and vintage usually have a very specific vision in mind that has been there probably for a long time

I'd love to get a Tuareg 660 (or a more reliable Tenere 700 but it doesn't seem as fun.) Will miss the power of the R1250GS, but will like the lower weight. But I promise myself to not get a new bike until I sell one first; hard to decide which one to sell.

Would love to have 200 ft2 of storage space to store the bikes and free up the garage for 2 cars. I'd hate to get a new car and park it outside in the elements.

the commando is what i was i set on, but an atlas would be super cool too. i had originally wanted a vintage commando; long story, but my dude put his foot down, and said new (or newer) only (mechanical reasons). i bitched about it on barf (can’t quickly locate the thread). was hoping for support, but everyone agreed with him.

anyway - thanks, and nice bike!

Have you ridden a Norton or any other Brit bikes from the 60's/70's? As much as mine is my favorite and bought new in 1975, getting on it after any of my modern stuff it is an ancient piece of kit. Whole other ball game. DAMN pretty though...Norton house.JPG

That's a beautiful bike, but it needs to come with a toolbox and a lifetime of patience.

Don't forget the ankle brace for the kickback when you try to start that thing.

Keep the points set and weigh over 150lbs and concentrate it's OK. But you're not gonna do it in Vans...

Had a younger dirt bike rider friend want to try starting it. He only knew about kicking 125 two-strokes. Almost popped his ankle without even moving the lever using that manner of kicking. Pretty funny...

Kick starting is a skill.

A right of passage that every kid should master before moving on to the magic button. It'll teach one the value of maintenance.

Truth. Luckily I used to live at the top of a very steep hill so I was never late for work. Different story walking out to the SRX600 after a long night of waiting tables and wanting to just go home. It certainly wasn't like kicking my CR80 or CR125, that's for sure! Once I got it figured out it was ok...mostly :laughing

Isn't that a shattered ankle in your avatar? You told me the story but, if we follow this path of evil high compression kickstart bikes you could take our imagination places :laughing

:laughing No, that's my shattered wrist, MX racing, the first of 3 that I've endured. I've broken my left ankle twice, both times while racing, and it also included 2 plates and lots of screws. My right ankle, though, has only been broken once so I'm still good for kickstarting! Maybe not an SRX, but the dirt bikes are easy!

Sorry for derailing the hell.out of this thread.

No new motos on my radar, treated myself and got my first and only brand new bike in 23, a ktm890 adv R and kitted it up.
Maybe a 300 xcw is the only thing that I "want" as the 500 is sometimes a handful on crazy right stuff.

Now ? I'm thinking about a vintage Yamaha DT 360, something that will do 65, easy, unstressed.
One of my friends had his shoe launched 25 feet in the air when he borrowed mine to take the MC license test.
Fixing all the seals, now, will be a fiddly process.
Riding it over Snoqualmie Pass on the freeway seemed pretty stressful to me. Even way back then.

Next would likely be electric and super low weight for trips to the store and post office.
The SV and BMW are barely broken in and don't need much in the way of improvement.

So many I'd like to try, but I'm a monogamist so it's hard to move on. The KTM 890 SMT ticks many boxes but would need upgraded suspension and probably brakes to make me happy, at which point it's kinda spendy. A full on super moto would be fun, those husky 701s always make me drool. I find i tend to like bikes I sit on versus in more, but also, I've never had a proper sport bike and that new Ducati Panigale V2 sure looks like a hoot. I need a bigger garage and a much bigger bank account.
