can someone tell me or volunteer to show me how to wheelie on my yamaha r6. i heard it was hard and i been tryign it but its not really getting up. some people tell me its to heavy and others say i can do it?

an R6 should be able to power wheelie in 1st, even with stock gearing. what year is it? and what do you mean by "not really getting up" - is it coming up at all?

an r6 will wheelie easily. Most likely it is not the bike that can not wheelie but the rider. You might get nervous and shift your weight forward or apply pressure to the handlebars. Just sit normal, and be light on the bars.

A sure way to wheelie but not safe because it is easy to 12 it would be to get your bike in first. get the rpm to about 10.5k and hold it. then give it full gas. or you can get it to 10.5k rpm first gear maintain it then let off the gas and then go full throttle.

Most likely you'll bring it back down as soon as the front wheel comes up. but just let off the gas when you want to come back down or you can use the rear brake. either one will work

Make sure you don't turn the handlebars while the front wheel is up. you want to land as straight as possible

yeah, my SV (obviously a very different powerband) will bring it up at just about any RPM in 1st but it'll starve of oil if I keep it up so I put it back down right away. wheelies are also scary to ride, so I probably would anyway...

when I lift it up for some reason I tend to turn the bars unless I'm VERY careful, so be careful about that. this is true on both my SV and my friend's XR400, so it's not just the bike.

ok thanks. I can get the bike to rise maybe 12 inches but thats it. i take it to 8000 rpms then roll off the the throttle then back on but it never stays. ill try and be gentle ont he bars. you rigth i am scared so i do tend to move forward.

use the clutch!

are fun.

In first gear go 20-30 mph and what it open. It'll come up! DO NOT clutch in first gear! Well, you can, but its gonna come up fast and high. Power wheelies to the limiter in first and go from there.

8k rpm is too low R6 doesn't start making real power until about 10k rpm. On my 02 r6 I would take it to at least 10krpm and then WOT always would come up.

Once you get the hang of first gear power wheelies then you should do 2nd gear clutch

Start experimenting with whacking the clutch from a mid to low RPM range as you shift to second gear, that's the way.
The only way to get good at wheelies is to do it all the time, even if it's just small ones at first. Work your way up from there.
Just a word of warning. Once you get the hang of doing wheelies it's addicting and you won't be able to stop.:thumbup

....wait a minute, dirt bikes and fiddys. Learn on those first. :rolleyes

get a fiddy. Learn on that first. It will save you and your r6.

+1

and if not...check out the sticky of the video i posted on the stunt section...

:teeth Stunt Safe!

I have an 07 R6.. i lift it up in 1st.. take it to 10k and then throttle her up.. ive learned to ride her our for a bit before putting her down.. =)

ps.. get a crappy bike to learn on.. i got a stunt bike so i wouldnt wreck my r6.. =)

Try clutching second gear sit downs, they are far less terrifying than first gear. And don't forget to cover the rear brake. Just in case.;)

F4is are one of the best stunt bikes...they have a rep for being used as stunt bikes since controlling it is good

thanks yall. ima try that tomorrow. i wish i had a fiddy but ill b sure to cover that break and to also take it slowly cause lord knows i dont wanna kill myself.

ive got an 00 r6 and first and second gear should come up with ease When i was learning wheelies body position was the big thing i found that i had to sit with my lower back touching the back seat and the bike did all the work and use the clutch i first tried to power wheelie by snapping the throttle and it got me nowhere clutch that shit up its safer and is what youll end up doing anyways be safe
