As I'm typing this, I'm sitting near a church that has been BLASTING this "christian pop rock" or whatever it's called. You know, the type of music they play during their "alternative" services to try and appeal to a younger audience (even though it's still mostly middle-aged).

The vocals seem like a cross between Creed and Hootie & the Blowfish, but the guitar and keyboard has no rhythm or aggression whatsoever......I can't even make out any individual chords, they seem to blend into each other in one continuous, annoying tone.

Is this what's called elevator music, or muzak?

I've never been a fan of country music. I've yet to hear a single song I like or enjoy on even a basic level.

Otherwise I consider myself to have a wide variety of tastes

This is BARF, so let me set the tone for this thread.

1. Anything mainstream
2. Anything kinda mainstream
3. Anything you like
4. Anything you've heard of
5. You think you know music but you don't

I like Outlaw Country and the stuff the "Texas Country" station in Amarillo plays.

But pop country is horrific

RAP, :afm199 closely followed by DIXIELAND JAZZ.

No, Muzak is more like Kenny G and shit. the sort of Soft Jazz you hear in elevators.

The worst kind of music of course is Gangsta/Hardcore Rap music, as always.

Loaded question similar to what is the worst form of art, poetry, literature etc.

But yes the gangsta rap and the death metal tend to aggravate me.

I actually like some gangsta rap, it can be pretty funny. And if it has a good beat, all the better.

If you can do bluegrass/folk, Jerry Jeff Walker is tough to dislike and he's at least half country. Linky.

Modern mainstream country though, fack. I heard this one song where the guy says, "chew tobacco, chew tobacco, chew tobacco, spit". First time I was just stunned at such an intense level of over-the-top cliche stupidity, like you're waiting to see if somehow Weird Al tricked them into playing one of his songs, but nope, it's a 'real' song.

This one is also kinda half country, maybe 2/3rd even... and pretty rockin'

I can listen to anything from Eminem to country to Ludovico Einaudi but everything outside of that is the worst form of music.
