Why is that?
Oh, because you no longer care how much you have to maintain it when you have a poop eating grin from the throttle response?

Having gone from one extreme to another, I can tell you the converse is true is well. You don't remember how great the feeling is when you are elbows deep in maintenance.

maintenance is relative. Oil change and valve check takes 30 minutes with beer involved. I have other bikes to ride - as does the OP so you're not constantly on the ebb and flow of maintenance and ride time.

I actually enjoy working on my bikes and taking care of them. You may not, judging by your statements. Nothing wrong with that. I like fast toys, you may not.

Yeah I have been looking at for one of these here and on CL. Hard to come by used... They look super fun though.

I had one for a while, and I think the KTM 625 SMC is a much better bike. Lighter, handles better, and the LC4 is much more fun.

The Husky was a blast on the big track though!

I'd take either of the big bores over a DRZ. At some point I nearly traded my SV650 for a 625SMC, but it didn't happen and I ended up with an SM610 instead.

The DRZ goes to sleep at night and dreams about being a KTM or Husky :rofl

Yeah in reality they are all out of my current price range. Still fun to look.

Yeah, the big bore bikes are definitely a tilt to ride, but I still have a place in my heart for the DRZ. Matter of fact, I still have one sitting in the garage right next to my husky. Maybe i'll ride it tomorrow..

The only real DRZSM I miss out of the 7 or so that i've owned since '05 is my fully built big bore, FCR'd, cam'd, bike. That sucker was a beast, and got 45-miles on the stock tank:ride

Not necessarily.

I bought my '04 (best year btw) 625 for $3K from a fellow AFM'r.

Deals can be found!

It's been gone for awhile now. I'll keep my eyes open for ya. I really think you should get a motard:ride

Hell even a DRZ will be awesome for where you live.

Tilting back in that direction. Kinda see what comes up first and if I am ready to pull the trigger.

so it's nothing like the nightmare of valve adjust on a 600 super sport?

And there's the tale of the tape right there...

Quarter mile times; 15.75 for the WR and 13.66 for the DRZ.

Keep in mind that a TOYOTA SIENNA Minivan can do a quarter mile time in 15.8.

Lol. No.

Check out this 5-minute video. The setup time, which requires removing the tank -- a 1 bolt affair) takes longer.

You only have one cylinder on these bikes man :laughing

Although, the KTM 625 I had a little trouble with. The exhaust valves are very cramped, I had a hard time getting my fingers and my feeler in there. It might have been easier if I took off the radiators, but... come on, the radiators!? :laughing

It's been two years and I still love riding my WR250X.
