Arguing and pontificating on the Internet is addictive.

I needed to stop caffeine (coffee) per my cardiologist recommendation, since it increases the heartrate, after enjoying it for over 40 years. I bought decaf coffee pods and titrated down over a month by increasing the decaf volume until it was pure decaf. No headaches, intense fatigue, irritability, or brain fog.Sounds crazy, I know. Medical "authorities" say the acute caffeine withdrawal symptoms (headache, aches, grumpyness, disturbed sleep, etc.) lasts a few weeks or a month and then you are fine. Not true. There is also post-acute withdrawal which was a year of mental fog and grayness of life that never lifted. I quit caffeine for a year as a personal test to see how it was affecting me. I'd bet the vast majority of caffeine addicts could not make it a full year without it. People quit nicotine (or more precisely MOAI's in cig smoke) all the time and are fine except occassional cravings like after a meal or whatever which is an associational craving that fade with time.

Been on zero for that last 10 years.Cup of decaf has about 10mg of caffeine (varies). Try zero.
