It is possible I ride without my license plate attached to my motorcycle. It is possible I do this frequently.

It is possible I was pulled over today by Englewoods finest about my possible lack of a plate.

It is possible the officer asked me why I didn't have a plate. It is possible that I told him I didn't think a plate necessary.

It is surprisingly possible that he sent me on my way without a ticket.

Civil Disobediance is a strange animal. :wtf:wtf

It is possible I think this is an awesome post.

It is possible refusal to submit to arbitrary and unnecessary laws can result in no negative consequences.

It is possible I rarely ran a plate in Oakland and San Francisco.

Are you trying to invoke anarchy, what is you message?

License plates serve no purpose on motorcycles except for automated traffic enforcement, surveillance and misc items that are not safety related.

Why should Anyone submit?

I have an extremely hard time believing that

That he just let you go. I mean it's possible, I got let go after being pulled over doing 90+ mph. But CHP pulled me over just for having a dealer plate on a new bike. Maybe you're just super lucky.. And dumb

Not lucky. Police are people too. Give them the ability to apply discretion.

If luck is at issue, it is possible I've been lucky during the 170,000 miles I've ridden possibly without a plate affixed to the bike is very lucky. I should probably buy a lotto ticket.

Plus my dads and engineer.

Having every vechicle accountable for their actions via a license plate makes it safer for every motorist. 90+ people die in auto accidents daily in the US, so having all freeway legal vechicles traceable is totally reasonable.

It is a social contract, and there is no reason why you as a motorcyclist should reap the benefits of others giving up their anonymity while you retain yours.

What are you rebelling against?
What have you got?

What accountability is missing for a motorcycle without a plate?

I was about to type a long rant/response. But figured it was a waste of time. I agree with cfive above.

On the one hand, I'm a punk and 90% of the time I think cops suck. But I also understand that human beings are too shitty to police themselves.

Even if you're not the type of person that would pass a cyclist on the right and leave them bleeding & broken in your rear view without stopping. That's what riding without a plate implies. Sure, I've ridden home on a motorcycle I just bought without gap insurance. it might not have been the most responsible thing.

But gloating about riding for years without a plate, and playing dumb to the officer that you didn't think one was necessary, all that seems a bit puerile.
