My bad.

Shit man, honkey's be trippin cold-ass in they head. Talkin bout walking a dog like they runnin a bitch on the green side, you dig?

But no, there was talk early on about a social contract, which is a Hobbesien construct used to defend all manner of evil. This is the one I was referring to.

That is the social contract that I was talking about as well, but not Hobbes version of it. More like Locke or possibly Rousseau's (not familiar with them other than a quick Wikipedia scan).

Social contract to me means a group of individuals willingly giving up some personal freedom or autonomy in exchange for an increase of order and predictability in the actions of those around them. Perhaps that is not the best definition of it, but is what I meant when using the term.

We could go down the rabbit hole, but I recall Locke made it clear that there is a right to revolt against the the social contract should the members of the community see fit.

Yes, he seems to have had a much more optimistic view of humanity. It seems Hobbes viewed people as completely self interested nasty brutes that needed policing from an iron fisted authority to protect themselves from their true and truly vile nature.

Then I realized I had put the plate on my nighthawk because I didn't want to cause problems at the place it was getting serviced last week.

Nice day on the road to Mount Evans.
