The Official 2017/2018 NFL Thread

What I want to know is, what happened to these Raiders? They were an unstoppable force last year. I don't feel like there were significant changes. Did Defenses just figure them out? This sudden drop off seems weird to me.

if it was just one or two things, that would be more address-able. but it's like one game the defense can't do shit, then the next they hold the team reasonably well but then there's fumbles. then the next game the run game looks fine but the WRs can't catch. then there's a game where the o-line takes the day off. it's crazy frustrating.

vs. the Patriots: holding them to 33 isn't all that awful for a defense with absolutely no help from the other side of the ball. but not keeping up with them offensively and making one big mistake after another caused the game to get out of hand quickly. besides the egregious drops and overall WR play, I think they were penalized like 5 times before the Patriots got their first.

mistakes are what's costing this team. the talent is there. this points to coaching.

Wentz is the real deal. That game would have been worse had Smith caught those two 3rd and longs that hit him in the hands in the first half.

Note to Dallas: don't injure the Iggles' kicker; it's only worth an extra helping of whup ass if ya' do. :thumbup

Raids changed OC this year for seemingly no reason that I know. Today he was appointed OC of Denver.
DC has been around a while, and the defense has seen no significant improvement IMHO, although talent was added this year. DC has to go.
Or Jack could be looking for another job. I think the talent is there.:thumbup

Speaking of Peterman:

To Bills: 6/14 for 66 yards 0 TD 5 INT is a rating of 17.86
To Chargers: 5/14 for 84 yards 1 TD 6 INT is a rating of 41.07

but yeah Tyrod Taylor was their problem.

That's a decision (Peterman) that could/should cost a job.:wow Unless it came from the top. Bills were in wild card contention with a winning record.

Players must be bummed.:thumbdown

yeah what a horrible way to cause discord in the locker room.

Musgrave's play calling last year was at times headscratchers. I was on board with letting him go, but wish they brought in a proven commodity at OC instead of Carr's pal Downing. This isn't the time for your OC to learn on the job. They had to be firing on all cylinders from the get go. now, 11 weeks in, they're still trying to figure it out.

Although it's hard to blame the play calling too much yesterday. 3 runs to start the game resulted in a nice 1st down. A manageable 3rd down was set up well with a run and a pass, only to have the drive flattened by a dropped pass. then the poor WR play just kind of took over anything the offense was trying to do for a good chunk of the game.

Always good to see KC lose.

But the jints are screwing themselves with these wins. No top pick for them!:rofl

We were never in a race to beat the Browns for the top pick. We will still probably have more Wins that the Niners. I expect top 3 though.

Yea it's hard imagining anything other than 1)CLE 2)SF 3)NYG right now.

Jimmy Graham just got laid the fuck out by the ATL safety to prevent a TD. Wow.

edit: OPI called anyway, but holy shit still a fantastic play by the S

Don't think I'd have chosen a running fake however many yards out with seven seconds to go, but..

I kind of expect the Giants to surge and win like 4 straight at the end of the season. It will mean nothing except a worse draft pick, but they love to do shit like that.

aaaand exactly how I called it: Ken Norton Jr. axed today. I said the only reason to keep him around is that if things don't go well, Del Rio has another scapegoat. there you go.
