“Blazing Saddles and it’s HORRORS”. Movie review.

Was laughing with the kid the other night about how we used be bigoted towards the Irish, or Italians, of whomever back in the day, but these days it's strictly down to color. Basically, we're so dumb that we can't even racism/bigot correctly anymore.

It is still exactly the same. Xenophobia is an evolved threat response and is perfectly natural. The Irish and Italians were prejudiced against during periods of mass immigration from their countries. Anytime a mass of people are at your doorstep who talk weird and have strange customs, it is a natural social response to perceive them as a threat. Chinese got the same treatment in the rare few areas where there were significant immigrant populations.

It eventually went away, because the mass migration from the region stopped, and enough generations intermarried with the existing population to the point where they no longer were talking weird, and became a part of the culture. They successfully integrated into civilized society.

Irish got a St Pat's Parade, Italians got a Columbus Day Parade, America stopped being worried that the Pope was going to try and subvert our government.

The troubling trend now is a very bad culture change that is insisting that integration is not a goal. This new system of identifying as an outsider and demanding respect for your outsider status creates divisions that cannot be healed as long as they are maintained.

This division serves systems of control very effectively, so of course Government is very interested in maintaining it, which means it is unlikely to change until something tragic breaks the cycle of control.

All Mel Brooks movies are good. Not question their a satire comedy.

Not Woke

That rating does not use the English Language properly. If you like, it could be changed to, "Not Awake," or, "Unawakened."

To state that something is, "Woke," would be to proclaim that it is ignorant and poorly educated.

Most people who consider themselves “woke”, are ignorant.

Can there be integration without recognition of an issue? Just asking, everything I've posted is based on first hand experience and observation. I have more time with the Latino population than with anyone black or asian but it can be glaring. A recent incident with the Sausalito PD and one of our subcontractors was pretty horrific. Sudenly all was well once I showed up, did not matter that Carlos had the permits and permissions in his hand. I strike it up to his being brown and like Elditty pointed out, taking different.

Of course, integration is the responsibility of the immigrant, not society at large. The majority sets the paradigm for comfort, it is up to the new guys to find a way fit within it. This is a super natural process and usually is complete within 3 generations of arrival, but you need the flow of people from the old country to stop in order to begin, otherwise you just keep getting more cultural invasion of people who speak the wrong language and celebrate the wrong holidays, hanging out in ghettoized communities, speaking the wrong languages in shops that look like they are from the old country.

The Irish did it, the Italians did it, on and on. Once you don't have a constant flow of people who remember the old country as children, the new country becomes home and integration is natural. However, you need to stop the flow.

What about a citizen, not an immigrant?

What about a citizen, not an immigrant?

For the sake of that above, assume the use of the term refers to immigrated identity, rather than paperwork status, which is less relevant minutia.

The 1st Generation Immigrant probably speaks the wrong language and is completely foreign. He came here from somewhere else. He is viewed by society as a threat when present in large amounts. He eats the wrong food and celebrates the wrong traditions. He is difficult to communicate with and has ideas about society and living that are different.

His children are familiar with local customs, but are almost always still fluent in the wrong language and is used by his parents to help him ease his foreign nature in the new society. He understands local food and customs, but has a foot in both worlds, so he is not integrated.

To his children, the 3rd Generation, the customs of the old world are weird things grandma does. He often does not speak much of the wrong language. He understands the food and traditions of the old world, but they are foreign to him, not so much natural. If he visits the old world they see him as an American, not one of them. This stage is where integration begins.
