1983 CX650 Eurosport restoration thread.

Probably better than when it rolled into the showroom. :applause
Certainly more care was used in this assembly process. That's for sure.
I love me some "hand built production bike" stuff. (y)
This fun to follow thread is fun to follow.

The attention to detail is mindboggling. This will really be something to be proud of when you are done. Thanks for taking us on your journey.

And the story keeps progressing.
Larry fixed an electrical bodge from the previous owner:
The fuel level sensor.

This, however, is the more amazing fix.
Here's the story.
"I'm sure you remember the split rubber grip on the left rear hand rail.
Since I found yours was bent, I got out a spare I found. Tonight I
tested a process of squirting oil under the rubber and forcing it in
deep with air. Then I heated it up with the heat gun and it slid off in
one piece. Now I can sand and polish the replacement left side rail and
stand offs tomorrow.

With that done I can start putting the tail section components together
such as the storage box, rear cowl, license plate bracket and such. It's
the beginning of getting the bike assembled!"

And the rubber goes back on.

Now, we're waiting for the mirrors to come back from being black chromed.

After over a year of two steps forward / one step back, amazing successes and frustrating complications with brilliant problem solving, the end is finally in sight.
I think I'm going to have to ask Larry which was the more complicated build, the Eurosport that he restored first (an incomplete bike that I traded work for) or this prototype.

Decals going on.
If you remember from waaaayyyy back in this thread, the bike had French decals that sat on top of some of the English. Those will be placed after the English decals have had a chance to set.
