2018 Winter Olympics

I enjoy the spectacle on occasion. I'm the only one with cable so I had 3 Canadians over to watch the woman's hockey. Look I'm a weirdo, and most people don't think like me...it's more normal to happily support your country's athletes than to not really care. If they fail I am not crushed, if I win I'm like "good for them".

I'm rooting for America too of course.

seems reasonable. no reason to watch unless you're getting something out of it I guess, if anything just a reason to get people together. many people aren't in to the super bowl, but still attend events just to socialize.

I never liked football but one time a dude from work had an extra ticket to a college game and asked if I wanted to go. I made the mistake of saying sure why not.
This dude was messing around on his wife which she had found out about and moved out. So turn out the dude only wanted someone to listen to him whining and crying about his wife leaving him. And I double screwed up because I got a ride to the game with him. I suppose I could have gotten a cab home but it was a bit of a haul.
What does it have to do with the Olympics? Nothing, but if you accept free ticket to a sporting event better make sure its one you enjoy incase you have to tune out annoying spectators.

If he was such a whiny little bitch, why didn't you just tell him to STFU and watch the game? Or just tell him to man up and be responsible for his own actions instead of acting like an EMO?

He didn't tell you that listening to his whining was part of the deal and since it negated the benefit you didn't owe him anything at that point.

My :2cents

Dude was actually in the national guard and getting ready to be sent to Iraq. I didn't really consider him to be so an emo but maybe just a guy with a lot on his mind. Still didn't make for a very good evening but I didn't loose sleep over it.

Absolutely unbelievable and basically improbable finish for Team USA Curling! Major congratulations are in order for Shuster and company!!!

Definitely. I'm not a fan of curling by any means but it was kinda cool to watch them go from almost no chance at all to win the gold. Good job! :thumbup

I just turned on the TV to see what was on the Olympics in prime time. It was, I shit you not, the curling medals ceremony.

:facepalm

It was the greatest success story of the games for America. Certainly the most improbable by far.

Look on the positive side this means its almost over. What did we do to deserve two weeks of curling. I kinda know now how the Egyptians must have felt at the end of the plagues of Egypt.

So, why is there so much curling? Here are the reasons I can come up with:

1. They promised X number of hours of coverage and curling is, by far, the cheapest event to cover/produce/deliver.
2. They are trying to ram curling down our throats and think that if we are forced to watch enough of it we'll decide we like it.
3. One of the curlers is related to some network bigwig and so we're all forced to watch it.
4. They think that the NASCAR crowd will warm to it.

Any other possibilities?
