2021 Ford Bronco - shots fired

Yeah I agree, so much vaporware. Looks cool though.

Looking forward to the Tesla Cybertruck - should blow the F150, Bronco, etc etc out the water in pretty much every way possible.

No doubt it will blow everything out of the water pricewise.

Something has got to be said about Canoo already being public though right? Someone must believe in them.

Lots of these companies have been getting shitloads of funding just on the hopes and dreams that they’ll come to market and take a chunk out of Tesla’s market share. So investors are happy to throw money at them.

Remember what was it like 20 years ago. A “dot com” would IPO and just blow up because everyone thought it was going to be huge.

Wait a second! Does this apply to the Bronco as well?

I've ordered mine, but nobody can buy one yet. :cool

Of course the Bronco happens. Like I said, Ford is a big company who has been down the product cycle road before. Plus Ford is a big company with huge brand name recognition. They’re not about promising something and then not delivering. 10 years from know, Rivian will be nothing more than a paragraph in some study of the birth of the EV truck and nobody will really remember how much hype they built up only to not delivery a single truck.

But even decades later, people still don’t let Ford forget what an epic embarrassment the Edsel was.

Just thought I'd add an anecdotal "data" point to the thread: we were able to fit a brand new 70" 4K TV set, in its box, in the bed of our Gladiator yesterday. Granted it was standing upright, and placed diagonally in the bed, but it fit with the tailgate closed!

Speaking of high functionality and modularity...skip to about 8:45 mark for the obligatory plywood references.

"We put as much thought in to the truck bed as other put in to the entire car."

They should have put more thought in to the entire truck. Both this and the Tesla are just flat ugly.

The VW Micro Bus pickups look better than this thing.

And, honestly, the "common man" is unlikely to have the extra 1000's of $$$ that went in to that truck bed.

There's a reason GMC trucks have that fancy tailgate today and the Chevys do not.

The working trucks around here are older Silverados, F150s or Toyota Tacomas (or older). There was a nice 4 door Silverado next door this afternoon, looked like some wrought iron work.

The doors were 3 different colors. I'm sure the truck was over 10 years old, probably pushing 20.

Just found out my selection for the black painted modular roof will in fact push my delivery to 2022. Or I could choose the MIC hard top. I elected to wait, so a few of you will get yours before me. I'm ok with that.

Yeah, I've ordered the MIC top. I requested sound deadening, but they've included that with all hard tops now, so they'll knock $495 off of the price.

I'm wondering what else will delay mine. Base, 2-door, Sasquatch. Plus half a dozen minor options. I just received an e-mail today preparing me for the news that mine could be a MY22.

I got the same e-mail, but I don't see why yours would be delayed too, except maybe Sasquatch. I'm hoping you get yours this year.

Oh, I'm hoping to have it before summer is over, but I'm prepared to get bad news about when it will really show up, just in case.

I expect you to stop by to show it off, yes I realize you no longer live in the state. ;)

For as much as these are costing, I would wait to get exactly what I wanted too.

You guys are braver than me. I’m not pulling the trigger on anything till I see the thing in the flesh. Colors and so on. But I’m really curious as to how well the two door sits with and without the Sasquatch package. Driving wise, I’m sure it’s going to be a far cry from my new RDX that I’ll probably trade for it. But I’ve driven Jeeps around on the street before so I know what to expect.

I assure you I will see one before I finalize my purchase. Hoping to get to see one in Daly City in the next couple months. I've already seen the color in person.

Just for kicks, I went on the Land Rover site and configured a Defender 90 (looks so much better than the 110 four door). I got a little over $70k. And I know damn well that it would be the most unreliable thing ever. So yeah I’ll gladly wait for the Bronco.

Not that I'm against you pining for a Bronco, but why would you imagine the 90 to be the most unreliable thing ever? It's not the 70's Land Rover anymore. :dunno

Or vice versa, but yes.

The engine in mine is based on the Ford 2.0 turbo, so I had hoped it would be reliable enough. Most of the repairs so far were covered under an extended warranty since I purchased CPO so I got lucky. But that warranty is gone, and I don't trust it. After being nearly stuck on the side of the road for a couple hours, and at least 5 visits to the dealer for the same check engine light, with one stint nearly three weeks, I've lost my faith in my Evoque. Sad I still to this day love the look of it.

My sister leased an Evoque that was trouble free for the few years she had it as far as I know. What were the CELs for?
