2025/2026 NFL Thread

Dateline 2050-ESPN 15 for 15*

It was back in 2025-26 that the dynastic run by the Kansas City Chiefs began to unravel. Not making the playoffs that year ended the run of AFC and Super Bowl championships. When it came, the end came...swift.

(*everything in the future is quicker)

I am curious to see how the return of Boston plays out. Drake May seems like real deal. I wonder if this will represent the post dynastic 49ers era football. I honesty do not know who the hell most the guys on this 10-2 team are.

One of the hardest things to do for a football team is build a winning culture. A psychology of the team that demands excellence just by being present. John Madden built one for the Raiders in the 60's-70's that carried on after he was gone until it eventually began to crumble in the 80's. Montana and Walsh built one in the 80's that carried into the 90's after he was gone, extended by his return to the back office in the mid 90's before crumbling away in the '00s.

Brady and Belicheat certainly created the greatest dynasty in NFL history in the first 2 decades of the new millennium. I'm curious to see if their legacy will continue in a similar pattern.

Things are getting interesting. NE and Denver are impressive with solid young QB’s. Colts, Chargers and the Bills are all good.

Chicago….is the biggest surprise to me. SeaSticks and the Rams are both solid and will be tough to beat out to claim the West.

Given all the injuries the 9ers are surprising me too.
I don’t think we got the gusto to make a solid run in the playoffs but hoping to see if we can.

Another 49er win...what's left?

A week off. Needed. Heal & brainstorm.
Titans @ home. A win on paper.
@ Indy. Colts were looking very good. Things turning. Daniel Jones could be fragile.
Bears @ home. Start of season, this would be a paper win. Now? Hope they don't NEED this one against a surprising Chicago team or...
Seahawks @ home. They did beat them in Seattle, right? Maybe neither needs the win.

Playoffs? Gotta get there. Might be as far as they 'get'. Remarkable season either way.

I will be at the Titans game wearing red. It is work related. First time watching in San Jose.

I am so annoyed I need to buy some kind of ESPN subscription in order to watch. I am on the verge of giving up on trying to watch the NFL just based on how many bloody subscriptions you need.

^ It’s like that for basketball too. Welcome to the enshitification of sports.

Something's odd with the result of many of these games, in how the games develop and the second half turns. I'm thinking new AI tech is playing a major role...

the iggles aren't much to write home about lately but, OMG that giants field goal attempt :laughing

The nfl network carries some games a day late, if I’m interested I ignore the sports news. Abbreviated but free to record.

My youngest bought us the NFL ticket for Xmas at the beginning of the season. I think mostly to come watch the Rams. :laughing

Wife digs it. I have only viewed once since 9ers are typically on the homeboy old skool TV stations.

The good news is, tonight’s game won’t add to the number of blown leads the giants have had this season.
As far as I can tell, the Team that was really scrappy and dangerous for the first half of the season has completely given up once the fired Dabs. I have to assume the poor decision making there is related to Mara's Cancer situation. A desire to make meaningful change before he dies, even if forcing it was probably not the best call.

This season that was supposed to really be the corner turning with the End of Daniel Jones Era has pretty become uninteresting to me. Now just very interested in Chris Shula.

Thank god the Texans pulled it out on the Chiefs. Stay tuned and see if we can all savor the special flavor of tears that will be shed if KC is eliminated from the playoffs. Maybe this means I will stop seeing their faces in ever damn TV commercial from now on but guess that would require them to tote out some new poster boy for the NFL.

KC has had one hell of a run. So much so it is nice to see them falter.

Pretty good game.
