2025/2026 NFL Thread

9ers kicking off the Paid Purdy era.
They have been talking up the rookies and we have a lot of them that need to step up to get the 9ers into the hunt for the SB.

I doubt we will see any stars out of the gate, but still looking forward to watching some of the game.

All those poor players have to buy their own smelling salts now. Good thing Kittle and gang got paid. :p

I'm still scratching my head about the smelling salts. That stuff is nasty.

Years ago, my girlfriend's mom made cookies that used ammonia nitrate, I tried smelling it and felt like somebody had punched me in the nose, hard. Very unpleasant!

He opened with a nice bit of touch on a screen pass. Scrambled well. Missed on a couple of bunnies. Overall, Sanders looked like an NFL quarterback.

Then again, so did Nick Mullins. Time will tell.
I mean, you really don't know a god damned thing about who a team really is until after week 4 of the regular season so...

It's only pre-season, but what is going on with the Niners?

How about them Raiders?

I
For those who think Shedeur Sanders wouldn't measure up...

Shedeur Sanders Throws 2 TDs, Hyped By NFL Fans in Browns Preseason Debut vs. Panthers

IDK, some in here may be eating their words before the season is out. :laughing
I find it unlikely. No one ever doubted his physical skills, it is the personality retardation he inherited from his father that was the problem.

He may play like a monster for a couple of years, but character is a very hard trait to Coach. His value as a 4th round pick will become apparent when Contract time arrives. Will he handle his situation with dignity, honor, and grace, like Brock Purdy did, or will he act like a, "Prime Time," Le'Veon Bell or Deshaun Watson?

His dad had the skill to back up his persona. I don't think Shedeur will ever get up to that level.

His physical skills are also not great.

There's a reason he was drafted so late. Every team in the NFL - including Cleveland - passed on taking him multiple times.

No the fuck he didn't Guys like that are locker room cancer. Deon Sanders played for like 6 teams in his 15 years or whatever it was, because he was fucking intolerable in a locker room.

As a wide receiver he sucked, for his career 60 receptions, 784 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Look, I'm not trying to defend him too much, but the dude is a fucking winner.

He played for 5 teams in 14 seasons. Many players do that without being a "cancer" in the locker room.

He was the 5th pick in the 1st round in the 1989 draft.
Let's not forget he is the only man to play in both a Super Bowl and a World Series to hit an MLB home run and score an NFL touchdown in the same week, and to have both a reception and an interception in the Super Bowl. He is also one of two players to score an NFL touchdown six different ways (interception return, punt return, kickoff return, receiving, rushing, and fumble recovery).

Haters gonna hate, and I get it. But, as I mention before, his son will in no way reach the level of success his father achieved.

He was a defensive back. Going into games as a WR was a gimmick/gadget style play.

You sounds like those guys who say the Giants should not have shitcanned Odell Beckham or Jeremy Shockey or the Niner shouldn't have gotten rid of Terrell Owens.

Those guys were all bad enough, but sometimes you put up with them for a couple of years to get some wins, but when you let a QB be that guy, in can cripple your team for a decade like with Tony Romo, Cam Newton, or Kyler Murray.

There is only 1 personalty Quarterbacks should have. Humble, self critical, and competitive, like a Joe Cool or Eli Manning. Anything else is a dumspter fire waiting to consume your team, but I guess Jim McMahon and Joe Namath did each win one ring...

I'm not one of those guys. TO would have made the perfect Raider. LOL

Those teams made the decision to keep those players. In fact, you nor I have any control over player moves. So why be upset?

You sound like those guys who live on pass glory. Did you also throw four touchdowns in one game for Polk High back in 1966 against Andrew Johnson High School during the City Championship game?

:wtf Do I sound mad to you?

I'm just using these past guys as examples in personality types. :laughing :dunno

My point being, fuck all the loudmouth, high speed personality, PAY ME type, players. They are bad for the game. Expect the team to wear a jacket & tie when they fly to visiting games, and remember when you talk to the GM or the Press that you ain't shit without the rest of the team behind you.

You sound...passionate.

I get what you are saying. But homes, you can control your actions and your emotions. You have no control of the teams or the players.

You know what...

Raiders fans have been “feeling” that for the last 40+years.

I mean, it is true, we have no control over teams or players, but if you don't care what the teams do, why are you in an NFL thread?

Personnel decisions are in no way separate from Win/Loss records. :dunno
