2025 F1 Season (spoilers will be discussed)

Rookie mistake by Antonelli, came in too hot and was never going to get out of that situation without colliding with somebody. Max was just a victim there, he was surprisingly circumspect about it, Kimi must be a very likeable guy, perhaps Max sees his younger self in him.

Can Ferrari hold on to second in the constructors?

The announcers said RB has a huge problem and that Tsunoda is one of the symptoms, not the problem.

The problem is the car.

I did chuckle a little when Antonelli was making his walk of shame through the pits and he wouldn't take the helmet off.

Definitely a "don't talk to me" vibe.

+100. Seems like they've lost the balance somewhere. How many times have we heard about lack of grip? I mean, if Max isn't qualifying well in a car designed for him specifically.....

I just had a thought. We keep saying that the car is designed for Max only. What if the car is just designed poorly, and Max's skill has been covering up poor design? And up to this point, it's just been a bunch of patchwork to make it more usable by Max. Until know, they've been getting away with it. But now it's progressed so bad, not even Max can overcompensate for it.

That seemed to be what the announcers were implying.

But not just for this year, but maybe the past 4 or so years. I'm don't remember if they were implying just this season, or the past few. I think they mentioned something about when they had Daniel. But it probably goes all the way back to the last few seasons with Checo.

Given that the greatest designer in F1 history designed the car, I don't think it's a poor design. However, due to reasons, that designer (Newey) exited RB over a year ago and has not been there to help them tune the car (I have a theory that he was removed from supporting Perez the previous season when Perez suddenly lost his form).

People may think that they can do what geniuses do because the genius makes it look so easy, but I think that they're probably operating on previous settings from previous years in order to get the car raceable, but the other cars have evolved and it isn't so dominant in a several year old design and settings.

Just a thought, anyways.

I believe it's setup related. Someone posted the "sharpening" of the car and that makes sense to me. I don't know what Max's issue is now, but I suspect maybe it's a balance issue.

Max complains about brakes and grip nearly every Friday. The complaints about brakes started years ago and the grip complaints are getting much more common this year. RB can usually fix it enough with their sim and setup work by QP. But they likely failed in Austria.

It’s funny - all the teams supposedly setup their car to have a sharper front end for Austria. So maybe you’d think that the RB would be good by default, like last year. But nope, not this time. I think Max would have finished 4th behind Charles.

Saw the trailer for the Brad Pitt f1 flick earlier today. I guess it’s cool to see the sport getting some broader attention but a 61 year old f1 driver is a bit of a fail. He’s old enough to be Fernando’s dad.
The trailer looked way too Hollywood which is disappointing but expected.

Its tracking well in Europe which is mostly likely its target audience. Only way to make a successful racing movie here is to have it centered around Nascar...

I know me and the guys at work are planning on having an F1 movie watch party at my house when it gets released on streaming.

Add BBQ and lots of beer and it should be amazing!

Reports are Max going to Mercedes (pending board approval) and Kimi will be the sacrificial lamb to make way for Franz Hermann's alter ego.

That was a lot of fun to watch!

I'm excited to see Norris closing the gap, and also win at home.

The 10-second penalty for Piastri did seem a little harsh, but even if it was a 5-second, Lando was ahead by at least that much.

And way to go Hulkenberg!

I suspect that Max accentuated the appearance of what happened under the safety car by accelerating right as Piastri slowed down, then immediately complained about it. He's done that sort of thing many times. Whining is winning.

And a movie about a 60+ year old O-6 well into 30+ years of service still flying combat missions and taking 10g maneuvers made over a billion dollars not too long ago.
