Alberto Puig blasts Nicky Hayden

That was two years ago today. So are you trying to say Pedrosa didn't take Hayden out? :wow

-jim

He did take him out. He lost the front end - it was a normal racing accident. He didn't torpedo anyone

Man, var, you have an absolute skill for getting people worked up here. :laughing

OK. That I'll buy.

What else can we argue about? :laughing

-jim

I dunno gimme a minute. One thing that's interesting though, is you're one of the only people who's opinion i respect around here in regards to racing, and i'm glad you agree with me on that point

That reminds me..when i was at GP in Monterey, there was motogp trivia in front of Bubba Gump's. The guy running the contest had a mic, and he said "we all remember when Nicky Hayden was torpedo'd in 2006"
I started yelling out "he wasn't torpedo'd!!!"
If i had a head of lettuce in my hand i think i would have thrown it at him. I then told him to go watch Nascar. :laughing

the people around me were like :wtf i could tell them didn't wanna make eye contact cause i was nuts

And I don't care how you feel about Hayden personally. He was never named (officially) as Repsol's #1 rider. Not even when he won a.... wait, it's coming... A MotoGP Championship. He never raced on a bike built for him. And he never got that brand new set of forks this year that his, eh hem, "team mate" got. But again, he WON a championship while being handicapped, lucky or not.
So talk bad about him all you want, just try to stick to a fact, any fact, any fact at all.:rolleyes

FACT is that nobody is ever "officially" #1 rider because...get this: There are none. In fact, Honda has always prided itself with supplying (contractually as well) the same bikes as the factory (except factory team gets stuff to try first). When asked why? Honda answer was simple: "we want Hondas to win"

In fact, Biaggi and Sete never believed it... Biaggi finally did after riding the factory bike was.. uhhhh...disapointed. Sete "finally" got a full factory bike and before that, tons of parts flying his way...and well... it made no difference - much to his disapointment as well.... (dang, so Rossi did not win because of the bike..that sux).

Futhermore, in 2006..first time in perhaps a decade... Honda Gave and built a bike JUST FOR HAYDEN. Pedrosa rode, as the rest of the Honda riders, the previous year's bike with some upgrades. Hayden had a prototype NOBODY ELSE HAD. Those are the facts. A bike built JUST for Hayden. Not for the team, but for Hayden. A reliable rocketship.

To say in 2006 Hayden was "handicaped" is :laughing:rofl Rossi would have loved to have Hayden's Handicap and "problems" :hand Fact is, do you think anybody wants to ride "Last Years Bike" or the new prototype? Oh, of course, everbody wants to ride last year's "proven" bike.

Let's look at futher facts. First 6 years for Kevin Schwantz lead to NO championship, but had some 23 wins and some 43 podiums. Hayden?

First part of the year, Hayden gets beaten by Dovi who is on last years crappy bike. Not until Hayden get's the rocketbike has Hayden able to eventually beat Dovi - eventually, because Dovi beat Hayden at LS (but then, not a big power track).

As far as numbers don L1e...well, Pedrosa can sit at home the next two races and he will still be invited to the GP winner's table..... something that we cannot say of Hayden, even if everybody were to stay at home.

Once again. Next year is the year of the truth..the year Hayden and his devote fans to truly prove that he is a worthy champ, and that Honda kept him down...

The funny part is i absolutely speak what i think, try not to bait and i never insult people with name calling. When people have nothing left to say they just start name-calling. That's when i start laughing. It's happened many times. In fact i remember one instance when Climber even got worked up and i told the mods not to suspend him cause i wasn't at all offended by his name calling and i understood where he was coming from.

That's true. And for the record you'll never see me trying to keep Hayden down. I want him to prove me wrong so I can eat a mouthful of my own words

It seems silly to argue about a world champion when easy targets like Hopkins and Edwards somehow keep their MotoGP job every year. :laughing

Can we talk about why Ben Spies didn't get a factory ride and Hayden got signed with Ducati? It's obviously for publicity for Ducati USA right?

As far as Hopkins goes..he was at least a top ten rider until he signed with the green machine of career death. At least he's getting paid well though.

Edwards? Don't you dare go there. When he gets to speak at press conferences he's worth every penny of his paycheck. Plus he finished ahead of Hayden last year..what's that say about the Kentucky Clit?

Clit? Such bitterness and lack of respect for der werld champion of '06. :laughing

You may have hit on the reason Edwards is still in MotoGP, sort of a court jester scenario, with class clown entertainment value. Sure ain't due to his race wins. :party

Anybody with a brain can see Rossi is the best ever, at least his underlings give race fans something to talk about.

i'm tired of hearing that nicky got lucky, etc, etc. so what if he did? it was a damn interesting and tense season with major ups and downs. the championship was decided AT THE LAST RACE. when is the last time that happened?

<end rant>

Hummm...yes it was.... Starting off with Rossi being taken out in spain.. the rossi catching up only to have 2 mechanical DNFs in a row. Then catch up again with two straight wins, only to have a crash in practice significatly injuring his wrist at Assen... and Hayden winning courtesy of Vale's teammate..But Vale continues catching up again only to have another mechanical and tyre failure at LS.. Then again Rossi catches up...again.... and luck strikes again for Hayden..who is saved by the rain at PI when running midpack (again) in the dry....

Still Rossi making the mother of all comebacks and Hayden is suffering the mother of all defeats... is on - as usual - in damage control mode. The only time Hayden's luck seemed to run out was at estoril... but still his rabbit foot smiled by having Elias..who perhaps Hayden never gave thanks, stole the (very deserved win) from Rossi.... And we all know what happened. Rossi's small but significant mistake was again Hayden's lucky day - as he publically wished for: rossi crashing....

Yep, Hayden was mr consistant all right.... So yeah, it was an up and down Rossi season.... :rolleyes

Yup, rider error is a common cause for not winning championships. Just ask Pedrosa. :laughing

Correct.

Pedrosa's corner speed has ALWAYS been better than Hayden's and it should be for any 125-250GP rider that just got off one. No surprise there. Often when Pedrosa blow's past Hayden, the coment always refers to Pedrosa's superior corner speed.

Pedrosa came in harder, Hayden as typically then - parked the bike to shoot off with BIG power (yeeeehaaaaw) and well... the result is that Pedrosa WAS going to torpedo Hayden and lost the front from over braking... Pedrosa should have just rammed Hayden - as hayden did to him a few corners earlier (karma is a bitch) and he may have stayed on the bike - but hayden would have gone down... Pedrosa choose the worst for himself and his bike took hayden out.

NOW, Elias did in fact torpedo Rossi at Jerez. But no hayden fans cry about that, now do they?

Regarding Hayden hitting Pedrosa, his angrily said [Perdrosa] would not give up the position"

As mentioned, a bunch of rider's were injured.. as said as well..when was the last time edwards was fighting for a win :laughing

Sure, that injury and that of other clearly benfited Hayden... If half of the motogp grid got sick with eating bad tacos the next race, Edwards could win... whoooppieee

Regardless, that is part of racing, so it is a given... even a mechanical DNF but 3 is a bit too much these days. Stoner lost the championship big time with just two DNFs - though entirely his fault.

haha. Woooooooooohooooooooo. Ok I just had like 6 shots of Chivas. So I'm done with this thread unless there's something worthy to talk about. Pedrosa is Hayden's daddy. He doesn't even have to compete in all the races to beat him.

Don't tempt me.

Raise your hand if you'd like to see Var's head explode in alcohol-induced Righteous Anger! :rofl
