AMA NEW SCHEDULE

If you really want to be pissed, just remember that public showing of sporting events usually requires paying extra money. You just can't install DirectTV at your sports bar and show games, you've gotta pay extra for that. Somehow I doubt that FIFA is more generous then the NFL, MLB, etc.

How do you guys know Laguna didn't pay for it? Or that Dorna (owned by a multi-billion dollar sports markeing group) didn't have access and offer it to Laguna?

I'm saying most likely Laguna paid the licensing fee to show the world cup.... instead of the fee to Dorna to enable the cameras to shoot AMA.

Obviously I have no idea how much either of those cost, and it's reasonable to assume that the FIFA fee was cheaper otherwise I'm sure they would of rather showed the racing.

DORNA doesn't allow (any more) their crews to shoot any other races NO matter the what.

Link? All the reports I've read was that AMA/DMG hadn't fully paid the bill for last year when Dorna taped the AMA races and AMA couldn't find the money to pay that off + this year up front.

Dorna's video team showed AMA prior to 2013 (and the MotoGP weekend at Laguna in 2013). They also showed AMA on the track screens at WSBK last year. There weren't two sets of cameras and video trucks. AMA paid, or promised to pay, Dorna in the past.

I think broadcast rights are very complicated. Cycle News reported that since AMA didn't pay Dorna (for this or past events at Laguna) that even individual AMA teams were not even allowed to run GoPro cameras on their bikes. I'm sure that went over well with AMA sponsor GoPro. Maybe Yakoo can comment on some of this?

The whole situation is a wreck.

Apparently nobody told Roadrace Factory they couldn't run their GoPros:

So the guy who lost the Geico sponsorship before AMA Pro Racing lost the Geico sponsorship is now in charge of finding sponsorship?

Patrick Buganski was named the series' Communications Manager and comes to AMA Pro Racing with nearly a decade of experience as a writer, editor and social media professional.

Patrick's resume isn't as stellar is this quote makes it seem :| :laughing but vague quote is pretty vague ;)
